(7)REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Lemongrass, also known as Cymbopogon citratus, includes Citronella oil, musk smells, carbon dioxide, and
lactic acid. In other words, by applying repellent with Citronella oil ingredients. According to a study conducted
in 2011, the intense odour of lemongrass oil killed or completely repelled around 95 percent of mosquitos from
a specific range of species. Lemongrass has long been thought to be one of the most effective plants for
preventing mosquito bites. (Cataingan National High School BS PE Students, S.Y. 2021- 2022)
As more and more negative evidence is disclosed, many repellent products that use chemical compounds like
DEET (N, N- Diethyl-meta-toluamide), which is utilized as an active chemical component in insect repellent,
are now switching to entirely natural components. Lemon grass is on the Environmental Protection Agency's
(EPA) and Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) lists, indicating that it is quite safe (Gumban, 2019).
Individuals all across the world have learned to rely on lemon grass's powerful insect repellent capabilities and
use it as an individual and area spray.
