The math program we will be using this year is Amplify Math, which follows the 8th
grade math curriculum with some modi cations. Amplify Math helps students make
connections with math and their everyday lives to help them see and appreciate the
relevance of the math they’re guring out in class. Throughout the units, students will
be introduced to historical and current narratives that show their connection to the
content, the many places mathematics inhabits in our world, and how the work they
do in class connects to our history and their own reality. Each lesson is built around
a small number of engaging problems where students build conceptual
understanding and make connections to prior learning before applying and
practicing. You will need a pencil and math binder/folder with you in class each
day.

The concepts and books that we are projected to cover this year include:
• Rigid Transformations and Congruence
• Dilations and Similarity
• Linear Relationships
• Linear Equations and Systems of Linear Equations
• Functions and Volume
• Exponents and Scienti c Notation
• Irrationals and the Pythagorean Theorem

Expectations
• School rules will be enforced. Please leave all electronic devices (unless
approved), hats, and backpacks in your locker.
• You are expected to manage assignments. You will need to bring whatever type of
planner you are going to use with you daily.
• Do your best to promote kindness. :)
• Bring a pencil and your math folder/binder to class each day. - VERY
IMPORTANT!!!
