EM 09 Diagnosis ASM
1. Introduction Measured values:
Errors sometimes occur in electrical machines. These may R1 windingresistance
be, for example: winding interruption, housing short IN rated current
circuit or winding short circuit. In the experiment, analysis Risolation insulationresistance
methods are used for different engines in order to find
errors.
2. Preparation for laboratory (homework)
Repeat the structure and theory of asynchronous machines!
What is a resistor measuring bridge, how does it work?
What are windings in electrical machines, what is their function?
How does an electronic milliohm meter work? How is a compensation resistance
measurement carried out with sense lines?
How is the insulation resistance measured when testing electrical systems, what values are
required according to standards (e.g. for a 400V system)?
3. Experiments / Investigation
3.1. Determine the value of a reference resistance with a digital multimeter, with a resistance
measuring bridge, with a milliohm meter and by a current‐voltage measurement
3.2. Determine the resistance of the three phase windings of three existing asynchronous
machines.
3.3. Measure the insulation resistances of the windings to each other and to the housing.
3.4. Find three errors on the diagnosis asynchronous machine (they are set beforehand by the
laboratory supervisor).
4. Analysis / reporting
4.1. Report the resistance measurement results for the reference resistor.
4.2. Displaying the resistance measurement results for the winding resistances. Discussion of
the measuring method/device used.
4.3. Presentation of the measurement results for the insulation resistance.
4.4. Report the errors simulated in model motor and the applied characteristic measurements!
5. Equipment:
Thomson measuring bridge with suitable power supply
Milliohm meter,
24V‐power supply , load resistance for currents >1A
Digital multimeter (DMM)
Isolationsmeter (manufacturer Metrawatt)
Three differenc asynchronous motors
asynchronous motors with simulator of errors for training of diagnosis (Leybold)
