The Power of Technology in Education

The education scheme had experienced a paradigm shift from where it used to

stand years ago. At an earlier time, learners need to go to the library and scan books to

look for information they needed. In the 20 th century of learning, in just a snap of a

finger, learners would easily find thousands of information they need. Technology

undeniably improved, grown, and continues. Technology in Education enthused the

learners to explore and learn new things abruptly. Most children are heartened to listen

and interested to learn if there are audio-video lessons and gamification involved in the

teaching and learning process. The Education system embraces the power of

technology by carrying out online classes, maximizing digital learning, and viewing

learning programs on TV or YouTube channels. Devices like computers, laptops,

smartphones, and tablets are now being intensely used by our education sector and

these devices are not just for fun and leisure time anymore but are being used for

imparting further knowledge to pupils. So, it is evident how vital Technology is in the

new normal in education, and it is a powerful tool to make learning possible and to help

pupils save schooling amid pandemic.

Parents and Teachers
“A Strong Partnership”

“Education must continue even in times of crisis, whether it may be a calamity, disaster,

emergency, quarantine or even a war” this statement was uttered by our Secretary of

Education, Leonor Magtolis Briones and it made me realized how significant the education is

especially we are now in the Covid-19 pandemic crisis. This is quite challenging to put into

action, but one thing is for sure, there is a need for a stronger parent-teacher partnership this

time. It appears that most of the proposed solutions to the problem of continuing the learner’s

education amidst pandemic are not seen as effective. Online instruction or blended learning

may not be attainable due to several factors like limited access to the internet and poor

performance of internet connectivity in our country. Another important factor to be considered

is the involvement of the parents. Parents are the most valuable stakeholders in school because

they are the ones who support, guide, assist the children in continuing their education. They

have a vital role and commitment to their children to succeed in school. Parent and teacher

harmonious relationship is the key in forming the learners’ better future. It is a combined effort of

parents and teachers to create productive and responsible learners in the future. Parents must

do their part in reaching out to the teachers and communicate with them on whatever things can

help the learner’s performance in school. It is right that some parents and even teachers are

facing challenges or struggles in guiding the education of the children, but if someone is
determined to do something, he will find a way to help his children regardless of barriers he may

encounter. As the saying goes, “If there’s a will, there’s a way” Parents and teachers will do their

best for the success of their children.

FAMILY or CAREER
What would you choose?

Harmonizing family and career is one of the challenges we are facing nowadays. Many
people believe that they could defend their families if they have a stable career.
According to them, without their job, their family suffers financially.
To secure that a family is taken care of, we need to devote the time necessary to keep
our career moving ahead. But as much as this makes sense; it has led to the
disconnection of many relationships and families. There are reports of women packing
their bags and leaving their husbands saying they didn’t marry the house. Some women
say that their husband is always away and when he’s back, he is always busy with his
laptop. These are always a mantra. Moreover, kids who spend months without seeing
their parents because they come home late when they are sound asleep and leave very
early in the morning before they wake up. It is evident that the complaints are
interminable. In today’s situation, we are facing the new normal setup of living brought
by the COVID-19 pandemic and it is very important that we learn how to balance our
career and family. Family needs each other to support one another and to bring hope,
strength amidst pandemic crisis, also family needs a career or a job to provide for their
needs. The first and the best thing we must learn is how to make family our number one
priority. Jobs, friends, and colleagues will come and go, but it is our family that will
always stay no matter what. Therefore, we should always make them number one in our
life. Remember that when you built a very strong family with love and respect, your
career will find more relaxed, easy, and flexible.
Old Normal vs. New Normal: A Realization

What makes this old normal different from the new normal? Do we still
experience the kind of living on the old normal these days? All of us are affected by the
COVID-19 pandemic and this brought adjustments in our lifestyle. Old normal has no
boundaries, we’re free going anywhere and doing things without uncertainties. We have
equal chances or opportunities to explore new things. Currently, the education process
significantly changed caused by this pandemic. Formerly pupils are learning within the
school premises.
