“Strengthening the Quality of Education Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic”

A special greeting to our energetic and beloved school principal, Dr. Liberty A. Abdon, Madam.
To our hardworking teachers, friends, parents, ladies, and gentlemen. A pleasant day to all of
you! Today, we are having the Moving Up Ceremony for all the grade 10 completers with the
theme, “Strengthening the Quality of Education Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic..” The
present COVID-19 epidemic has created a set of global circumstances that have never been seen
before, if ever. The virus's influence is all-encompassing, and in many cases, catastrophic. It's too
early to say if it will have an impact, but we can make a few key observations. Overall, the
epidemic has posed more challenges and stretched education than it has helped it. Education
institutions and authorities' answers have been typical: quick yet hasty, hopeful but unsure. Many
of you (students) have been put in grave danger, and teachers have begun to address their new
responsibilities.

The most obvious implications of the pandemic include the need to: close schools or at least
invoke social distancing, rapidly ramp up online teaching and learning, keep children safe,
inform and support parents to become partners in their children’s education, and determine how
quality in education can be sustained.

These are the great challenges that stricken our educational system. Teachers have been forced to
rethink how they teach when they engage students virtually. The vital ingredient
of interaction has been jeopardized. Teachers have lost the opportunity to ask students questions
dynamically. Lost the ability to confidently gauge student levels of engagement and motivation,
both key to learning. Thus, we are asking you(students) and parents to be considerate and exert
more effort and patience as we, your teachers doing the same.

So, on behalf of the teaching and non-teaching staff of Zambales National High School, I
welcome you all to this moving up ceremony which is the beginning of your time to step up on a
higher level of development. The time to show what is the best in you. The start of creating an
innovative and progressive country in the “New Normal of Education” out on the skills and
talents that you possess. And to especially mention you Grade-10 completers, I want you to be
“RESILIENT” to strengthen the quality of education you are dreaming of.

Welcome once again and God bless your journey come Grade-11 School Year 2021-2022.
