Grade Level: l - ll

I. Objectives
During the 50 minute period, students are expected to:
 acquire new words in the sentence of the short story,
 identify the character of the short story:
 Appreciate the moral lesson of the short story.

II. Subject Matter


 Short Story: The Midas Touch

 Materials: Visual Aids, Laptop, Projector, Dictionary, Activity Notebook

III. Lesson Proper


 Motivation:
1. Let the student read the short story (The Midas Touch).
2. Let the student identify the names of the character of the short
story:
3. Play the “Unfamiliar Word” game.
4. Let the student read the unfamiliar word from the short story.
5. The student who read the unfamiliar word from the short story
will call a classmate to find the meaning in the dictionary of the
unfamiliar word and read the meaning of the unfamiliar word
out loud.

 Sharing:
 The teacher will read again the short story after the class
activity. After reading the short story to the students, the
teacher will be sharing the moral lesson of the short story of
“The Midas Touch” to the students.

 Generalization:
 The teacher will be asking students to answer what is the
moral lesson of the short story of ‘The Midas Touch” that the
teacher is sharing to the class?

IV. Evaluation
Instruction: Students will select three (3) words from the short story of “The
Midas Touch” that is not familiar to them and hard to remember, and find the
meaning of the word in the dictionary and write it in the activity notebook.
