Long Term Plan

Grade: 7 Subject: Computers School Year: 2022 Teacher: Brooklynne Agnew

Overview:
Computers 7 is a course designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to operate and communicate with
diverse technologies. The course is split up into five units that cover the topics of internet safety, how to use technology, the
impact of technology on society, how to perform web-based searches, coding, and how to use technology to produce creations.
Students will use and become familiar with computer programs like Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, and Tynker coding. The
computers course implements a project-based approach to assessment. Students will develop a Portfolio that will showcase their
projects throughout the term. Constructive feedback will be provided to the projects to allow students to make improvements and
further develop their skills in operating and communicating with diverse technologies.

Rationale:
The curriculum focuses on ensuring students explore their interests and passions while developing the necessary skills and
knowledge to operate technology. Moreover, students will work collaboratively with fellow peers and respond to different
challenges by planning, creating, appraising, and communicating. The curriculum is developed to ensure students continually build
upon their previous skills and knowledge in a progressive manner. Students explore their interests and passions by engaging in
application and project-based learning to identify the real-life situations that technology is used and produced. They will learn to
use technology and communicate in an ethical and responsible manner. They will understand that technology is complex, plays an
important role in our lives, there are specific processes and tools, and how to use technology to become critical thinkers that
inquire and engage in problem-solving skills.
