TRANSFORMERS
A three phase power transformer 100kVA has short-circuit voltage and leakage reactance uk = 4% and
xk = 3% respectively. When the transformer is loaded with rated load and power factor cos ϕ = 0,8 it
has efficiency η n = 0,95 and maximal temperature ϑm = 90°C . Transformer is overloaded, and
maximal temperature in steady state than is ϑm1 = 120°C . Another three-phase transformer 50kVA with
the same turn ratio should be connected in parallel with the first one to compensate the overload (the
first one should be loaded with rated load). Determine the short-circuit voltage of second transformer
and the overload of the first transformer.

DC MACHINES
A DC generator has parallel exitation (i.e. shunt DC generator) and rated parameters: 14,8kW , 400V ,
850rpm , armature resistance Ra = 0,25Ω , voltage drop on brushes is 2V . Field resistance is 200Ω ,
and saturation can be neglected. Generator is connected to a load at nominal voltage. Determine the
field circuit control resistance required to deliver 10kW to load at nominal voltage if the speed is
1000rpm .1000rpm .

INDUCTION MACHINES
A three phase induction motor has following parameters 380V , 50 Hz , Y , stator resistance per phase
3Ω . Motor is tested in blocked - rotor test in Y connection with line voltage 110V , 40 Hz . Following
results are obtained: input power 500W , line current 5 A , torque of blocked rotor 2,15Nm . Saturation
can be neglected.
Determine the maximal (break-down) torque of the motor when it is nominally supplied.

SYNCHRONOUS MACHINES
A three phase synchronous generator with cylindrical stator and rotor (nonsailent pole machine) has
rated parameters: 25MVA , 20kV , 50 Hz , Y connection. Stator resistance can be neglected. Machine is
connected to infinite bus at nominal voltage and frequency.
Open - circuit test results are obtained at rated speed, where I p is field current and E0 f neutral to line
voltage:

I P [A] 20 50 80 100 120 140 160 180 200

E0 f [kV ] 1,73 8,53 16,90 18,48 20,13 21,46 22,53 23,33 24

When the field current is 100 A generator draws rated line current at cos ϕ = 0,8 lagging. Determine
the new field current if the generator delivers the same active power to the load at cos ϕ = 1 ?
