RAISING A CHILD IN THE PAST AND NOW

Children are playing a big role in development of the world’s population. According to some
research, each family approximately has three children. These children will grow up and they will
be the adults of tomorrow. The important point is how they have been raised by their parents.
People who lived in the past say that raising a child in their time was easier and more effective
than now. On the other hand, people who live now say that children are more intelligent today
because of parents’ way to raise them. What are the differences and similarities between raising
ways a child in the past and now? Here are some information about it.

Firstly, education was more difficult in the past than now because of the low welfare. Children
mostly couldn’t go to school, their parents neither. Children did the job that their father had done.
For example, a farmer’s child would be a farmer in the past. But today, children can get better
education because of the higher welfare than in the past. Thus, a farmer’s child can be a doctor,
an engineer etc. nowadays. On the other hand, expectations are the same. Parents want their
children to be the best. They love their children and expect them to be successful.

Secondly, there was a lot of free time in the past because computers, iPads, iPhone etc. was
not invented. People used to communicate each other by talking, without sending messages.
Children could play games with their parents instead of playing games on their computer.
Communication was more gently than now. Today, children don’t want to communicate with
another person normally. All they think about is their technological toys. This is because of their
way of being raised.

Lastly, punishment is similar between in the past and now. Parents are aware of the
importance of being gentle. They try raise their children carefully teaching them about being kind.
They also teach their children to be respectful. On the other hand, parents’ rewarding system
today is far different from the past. Today’s parents give their child what he/she wants. They give
them PC, phone etc. as a reward. They are not aware that these rewards are bad choices.

In conclusion, there are similarities and differences between raising a child in the past and now.
But in the past, raising a child was more effective and disciplined. Unlike the children of today,
yesterday’s children were not getting that much radiation because of the technological toys in
today.
