TASK 1 –VISUALIZE ME!

Directions: Give the appropriate response to the following scenario.

1. A Korean national is standing in front of a cashier and seems like hungry. The cashier

felt that he needs something to eat. Knowing his nationality what will you do to

communicate with him in getting his order?

I’ll talk to him in English, I will ask first if he knows how to speak English or understand some English
words. And if he does, I will take his order by talking to him in English so in that way we can understand
each other. But if he doesn’t know any English word, I’ll just ask for help to anyone who knows how to
speak Korean or use some google translation so we can communicate.To communicate with
him, I’ll be going to speak English slowly and clearly. But if he/she doesn’t understand me because of it, I
will use body language. In this way, I could speak through actions or gestures and have eye contact with
him/her to know that I’m sincerely helping.

2. There is Filipino Muslim who wants to eat in your restaurant. He seems tired
and

need something to eat and drink. Upon knowing his ethnicity, what will be the
food you

will offer to him to make him decide abruptly and satisfy his craving for food?
Muslims have a law to eat only halal foods, they are not allowed to eat or drink certain foods and drinks
like pork and any kinds of alcohol. I will offer them foods that are halal. First, I will greet him with a smile
and ask him on how I can help. If he seems tired and hungry, I will o ffer to sit down and take some
order, I will recommend food that has no meat like veggie dishes or some deserts to show some respect
about their religion by that we can communicate to each other carefully.

3. There is cross-dresser looking for perfume inside the mall where you are working. As

the sales clerk how will you address the customer properly to avoid discrimination?

I will address the customer by calling her Ma’am with certainness. I will treat her as a woman even
though she is a cross-dresser. I’ll ask her, what scent she prefer or if she need any help so I can
recommend some perfume that suits her. I will show some respect to avoid discrimination and by this I
know that it will boost her con fidence and we can communicate to each other as women
