Instructions:

1. Pick a word describing each tourist generation and explain why.

2. In relation to the word of your choice, provide products/services that will cater to each
generation’s tourist needs such as the kinds of tourist activity, types of accommodation,
amenities, and service procedure.

Baby Boomers – Traditional

- They are faithful to hospitality traditions and would like to immerse themselves in the local
customs of the places they visit. They travel for relaxation and sightseeing vacations.

Products/ Services:

- museums, historical sites, arts and culture.

- Hotels/ motel

- Prefer buying products in physical stores rather than online

- Place importance on the quality of interactions with brands and their employees, both in-store
and online.

Gen X - Family Oriented

- They travel less than other generations, Spend most of their trips with family. Their travel
preferences are relaxation, sight-seeing vacations and family visits.

Products/Services:

- Beaches and Resorts

- Hotels

- Theme / Amusement parks

- Ensure that the hotel can accommodate all travelers that a Gen Xer might be traveling with.

- Deliver a family-friendly, technologically accessible and a serene location.

Gen Y - Adventurer

- They are a travel demanding generation and the ones who embrace the #YOLO philosophy.

Products/ Services:

- Resorts with amenities like free wifi, mini bars and many more.

- Beaches that provides multiple recreational activities, such as swimming, surfing and fishing.

Gen Z - Digital natives

- This generation grew up with technology, the internet, and social media. Most of the
travelers’ decisions are driven by social media, with Facebook and Instagram as the most
influential platforms. They are also outdoor explorers and are also guided by the #YOLO
philosophy like the generation z.

Products/ Services:

- Travel for concerts, festivals and sporting events

- Activity-based trip such as trekking, swimming, cycling, etc.

- Transient houses/ motels (Inexpensive accommodations)

- Look for easy online accessibility with a quick payment

- Often prefer brands with ethical or green ideologies
