Start By:

A. Remove the tool bushing (upper).

B. Remove the hydraulic hammer.

1. Ensure that the hydraulic hammer is secure, in an upright position, and cannot fall.

2. Remove plugs (1) and the O-ring seals.

3. Slowly loosen plug (2) . When the dry nitrogen gas begins to escape, stop turning plug (2) .
When the discharge of the gas can no longer be heard, turn plug (2) another 360 degrees in a
counterclockwise direction.

4. Remove plug (2) and the O-ring seal.

5. Slowly loosen plug (3) . When the dry nitrogen gas begins to escape, stop turning plug (3) .
When the discharge of the gas can no longer be heard, turn plug (3) another 360 degrees in a
counterclockwise direction.

6. Remove plug (3) and the O-ring seal.

7. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to valve body (5) . The weight of valve
body (5) is approximately 77 kg (170 lb). Remove bolts (4) , the washers, and valve body
(5) .

8. Remove bolts (11) , washers (10) , accumulator cover (9) , accumulator membrane (8) , and
accumulator base (7) .

9. Remove O-ring seal (6) from accumulator base (7) .

10. Remove plugs (12) and the O-ring seals. Remove fitting (13) . Remove plugs (14) and the O
-ring seals.

11. Use Tooling (B) to remove carrier (15) from valve body (5) .

12. Remove O-ring seals (16) . Remove U-cup seal (19) , U-cup seal (18) , and buffer seal (17) .

13. Attach Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to piston (20) . Refer to Table 2 for the
approximate weight of piston (20) . Remove piston (20) .

14. Use a suitable lifting device to reposition head (22) . The weight of head (22) is
approximately 216 kg (476 lb).

15. Use Tooling (D) to remove piston sleeve (21) from head (22) .

16. Remove O-ring seals (23) from piston sleeve (21) .

17. Remove wiper seal (25) and U-cup seal (24) from piston sleeve (21) .

Note: Do not remove sleeve (29) unless sleeve (29) needs replaced or if there is concern of
debris. The use of dry ice is required for removal of sleeve (29) .

18. Remove housing (26) , spool (28) , and O-ring seal (27) from housing (26) .

19. Install Tooling (E) to remove sleeve (29) .

20. Pack dry ice into sleeve (29) . Use Tooling (E) to remove sleeve (29) after it cools.

Note: Do not lower the temperature of sleeve (29) past -70° ± 5°C (-94° ± 9°F).
