LEARNING OBJECTIVES: To review the language learnt in the unit, to assess the students’ ability to
recognize and use the language learnt in the unit.

ACTIVITIES: TIMING: DETAILS:

WARM UP: 15 minutes 1. Greetings: Say Hello + [name] to each child when they come into
class. Encourage them to say Hello + [name] to the other children when
they come in. You could have the Hello Song playing as they come in
to create a welcoming atmosphere. Give them time to settle.
2. The teacher uses a Pingu or Pinga hand puppet to ask each student
questions one by one.
Functional language: Q: What’s your name?     A: My name is …
                                    Q: How old are you?        A: I am … years old.
                                    Q: Where are you from?  A: I’m from …
3. The T.A. writes the children’s names on the board and gives each one
a star for sitting nicely while the teacher goes through the Class Rules
with the children.
4. Song time: Everyone makes a circle and sings the song for Unit The
children who participate receive 2 stars.

PINGU EPISODE: 5 minutes The children watch part 2 on the DVD, the version of the episode with
narration.

LANGUAGE REVIEW: 5 minutes The teacher introduces the flashcards for the unit to the children, and goes
through them one by one. The teacher explains the meaning of each flashcard
and/or mimes it, and ensures that each child understands what the word
means. The teacher encourages the children to repeat the words after them.

GAME TIME: 15 minutes Game objectives: To test their understanding of the unit and their ability to say
the sentences. This game will also test their level of confidence.

Who is in the box?


Place all the figurines in a horizontal line. Behind them, place the flashcards of
“Look”, “here is” and “a box” on the floor in a vertical line and put a small box at
the end of this line.
The teacher and the TA demonstrates how to play this game first. Tell the TA to
close her eyes and choose one figurine to put in the box. The TA first says hello

to every other figurine, then jumps on the flashcards “Look, Here is a box”,
opens the box and says “…… is in the box!”
The TA then becomes the teacher. She chooses a student to try, tells the
student to close their eyes, and hides a figurine of her choice in the box. The
student follows the game and then becomes the teacher. Continue like this until
everyone has tried.

BREAK / SNACK: 10 minutes The teacher chooses a child who has been working hard so far to choose a
video or song to watch on youtube. The T.A. hands out snacks to the children
and offers water.

REVIEW STORY: 10 minutes 1. The teacher reads the story to the students and asks some
comprehension questions.
2. Students take turns to read a line from the story by pointing to the
words on the screen, changing the name of the character to the name
of someone in the class. The student named has to act out the line
being read.

REVIEW SONG: 10 minutes Children take turns to sing the song karaoke style along with Song Time 1.

REVIEW LETTERS: 13 minutes Review


Review the letter names, sounds and vocabulary with the students.
Activity
You will need: Printouts of C and D craft as below for each child and also the
sample photo.
Have children color the picture first, then cut out the parts and stick onto the
letter as the sample photo.

SONG TIME: 2 minutes The students listen to Song Time 2 and dance with the teacher and T.A. The
children who participate receive stars.

CLOSE / WRAP UP: 5 minutes 1. The students sit back down and are called one by one to receive a
sticker. The student with the most stars is called first, and so on.

2. The class sing a goodbye song together. The teacher says ‘goodbye’
to the students, and the students say ‘goodbye, Teacher.’

3. The teacher tells the students that they can line up, and the T.A. and
teacher make sure that the children have any personal belongings
before they go.
