REACTION ON THE REPORT ABOUT GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING

Reporter: KIM RHANEE M. MANLIMOS

There is a difference between Guidance and Counseling, the guidance aims

at giving solutions while counselling aims at finding problems, working over it and then
resolving it. Guidance is mainly preventive and developmental while counselling is
remedial as well as preventive and developmental.
Guidance and counseling is the process which helps the students to know their skills,
interest, and personality that will help students in further career selection. The major
aim of Guidance and Counselling is to encourage students’ academic, social, emotional
and personal development. To reach this aim, guidance counselling help students get to
know themselves better and find effective solutions to their daily problems.
Guidance and Counselling is very important because it prepares the students for the
challenges of the future when their academic, career, personal/ social development and
community participation are supported. And also, students are taught the skills for a
lifetime of learning, career self-management and social interaction.
For me, the biggest impact of this program in the National Development is it help
individuals to adjust to themselves and the society and to understand themselves in
relation to the world. Having a healthy human race emotionally and mentally through
guidance and counselling program that is anchored in educational institution applied
within the community bringing towards national development.
