SIGNIFICANT PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE / INITIATIVES / CONTRIBUTIONS

1. Led the establishment of Petronas Carigali Turkmenistan Production Planning Functions in 2011.
The operations consist of 3 Offshore Platforms and 1 Onshore Terminal with the production of
around 40 kbd of oil/condensate and 500 MMScfd of gas.
2. Steered the oil and gas production planning and performance in meeting the target through
interfacing and coordinating between reservoir, well intervention, operations, maintenance
and surface engineering which contributed in getting the production higher than the target
for Sabah Operations in the year of 2014, 2015 and 2016.
3. Team Leader for Integrated Operations – Activities and programs master plan under Integrated
Activities Planning (IAP) management and execution for Sabah Upstream Operations in 2014,
2015 and 2016. Provided clear interfacing and direction between all parties in ensuring
maximum production.
4. Led the development and implementation of Opportunity Management System (OMS) and
Integrated Performance Management System (IPPM) and Integrated Activities Planning System
(IAP) which were the software that integrates all production enhancement activities, well
testing performance, water/gas injection performance in compliance with reservoir
management plans and performance reporting for PETRONAS Upstream Operations. It covers
about 10 countries and hundreds of facilities. This contributed towards efficient production
analysis and management decision making process. Project completed on schedule within the
budget in 2018.
5. Production Planning Head from 2011 until 2018 for Turkmenistan Operations and Sabah
Operations. Steered production performance through reporting & analysis, well surveillance,
production optimization effort, water / gas injection performance and facilities improvement
project.

Director of Planning and Business Dev, APEX SYMPHONY Sdn Bhd
• Developed field economics analysis and development scenario for various parties interested in
oil and gas block exploration, development and production in Aceh and Brunei. Provide
management recommendation on project viability for those blocks.
• Provided technical and commercial advice on platform decommissioning project under ‘re-
purpose’ concept by which end-of-life offshore platform will be converted into aquaculture
facilities. Project is ongoing.

Head of Engineering, ELSA ENERGY Sdn Bhd (Upstream Oil and Gas Service Provider)
• Led the expansion of ELSA Energy Engineering Division.
• Provided operations and production knowledge and skills for the improvement of the division.
• Heading the new technology valuation for business expansion – i.e. Low powered Chemical
Injection Pump, Compact Multiphase Flow Meter (study, design and manufacturing) and
Compact Liquid Recovery System design.

in the organization which covers an operations in about 20 countries around the world.

• Provided expert advice and direction on matters related to production forecasting,


performance reporting (financial and production), analysis, hydrocarbon allocation, crude
marketing for maximum production and value covering overall PETRONAS Carigali Operations
worldwide (more than 20 countries).
• Led the development and implementation of Opportunity Management System and
Integrated Performance Management System which are the software that integrates all
production enhancement activities, maintenance activities, shutdown related activities and
performance reporting for PETRONAS Carigali Operations. It covers about 10 countries and
hundreds of facilities. This contributed towards efficient production analysis and management
decision making process. Project completed on schedule within the budget in 2018.
• Led the revision of PETRONAS Opportunity Management Guideline which involved input and
discussion with multi discipline expert in Upstream Operations. Revised Guideline was approved
for implementation in PETRONAS in 2018.

Head, Production Planning for Sabah (Malaysia) Operations, PETRONAS

• Sabah Operations include about 10 fields and more than 30 onshore/offshore facilities.
• Led the development & execution of hydrocarbon evacuation program for Sabah Operations
in accordance to crude oil/condensate entitlement. This includes budget preparation and
optimization on production, operations and maintenance activities.
• Headed the coordination and negotiation for gas supply in accordance with the demand and
Gas Sales Agreement (GSA).
• Led the negotiation for optimization of interim supply between PETRONAS and other operators
which led to a value creation of over USD50 Million in 2015.
• Steered the hydrocarbon production planning and performance in meeting the target through
interfacing and coordinating between reservoir, well intervention, operations, maintenance
and surface engineering. This was done through Integrated Activities Planning (IAP) which help
prioritizing, rescheduling, avoiding redundancy, increased efficiency of manpower planning
and utilization of logistic facilities and also well surveillance (well models maintenance, well
testing data and compliance, production allocation, water/gas injection performance).
• Co-Chairman for Sabah Operations Shutdown / Turnaround Committee as well as Team Leader
for Integrated Operations – Integrated Activities Planning (IAP) Management.

Head, Production (Operations) Planning for Turkmenistan Operations, PETRONAS
● Turkmenistan Operations include 3 Fields and 4 onshore/offshore facilities.
● Led the establishment of full Production Planning structure, process & procedure, system and
functions (Hydrocarbon Planning, forecasting, evacuation, budgeting, allocation, reporting) for
the operations in 2011. This includes budget preparation and optimization on operations,
maintenance and capital project activities.
● Instrumental in the takeover of marketing function from PETRONAS trading arms (PETCO).
Created value of few million USD a year for this takeover. Led the effective crude marketing,
commercial negotiation, tanker planning, lifting activities for maximized value.
● Actively involved in the development of Gas Sales Agreement and negotiations with the
Turkmenistan Government for the optimum value. Negotiations include best commercial term
and technical agreement (metering, pipeline operations and volume calculation).
● Managed the Facilities Improvement Project – feasibilities study, economic evaluation,
budgetary preparation and approval. Utilized PRIMAVERA whenever required for efficient
planning and reporting.
• Team Leader for Turkmenistan Operations Integrated Shutdown Management.
• Steered production optimization through surface facilities improvement and well surveillance
(well models maintenance, well testing data and compliance, production allocation,
water/gas injection performance).

Operations Engineer Peninsular Malaysia Operations / Sr Operations Engineer Turkmenistan,
PETRONAS
• Provided overall operations interfacing and support for Ledang Oil Development Project
(est USD 30 Mill Project Cost) from Project Risk Assessment, design, construction, fabrication,
installation and Start-up. Achieved First Gas as per budget and schedule in 2007.
• Led the preparation and presentation of Facilities Improvement Project technical and
budgetary approval. This includes feasibility studies and economic evaluation of the project.

• Project Team Leader/Operations Team Leader for:


o East Belumut Oil Pipeline Tie-in (feasibility study, economic evaluation, commercial
negotiation and budgetary approval).
o Pulai A Oil Platform Gas Bubbles/Shallow Gas Mitigation (10-30 meter radius gas
bubbles). Coordinating well intervention activities and overseeing the overall
operations and safety aspect of the project.
o Pulai B Oil Platform Rejuvenation (Revived few wells and started production again
after few years without production). Led the thorough subsurface studies, surface
processing facility study, overall feasibility study, economic evaluation and
management presentation for budgetary and activities approval.
• Shutdown coordinator for Overall PM9 Block Upstream Operations.
• Operations Team Leader for MCRA Offshore Platform and Onshore Gas Terminal Project
Management Team (est USD 5 Billion Project Cost). Developed overall HSSE program and
procedure which include Emergency Response Plan, Operations in High H2S Procedure, HSE
Case Review. Managing overall Operations Contract Preparation and executions. Active
participation in commissioning and Start-up. 1st Gas achieved in 2010.
• Managed the budget and completion of Maintenance Activities in compliance with CMMS,
Inspection Report, Audit Action Items and stakeholder requirements.

Business Planner for Peninsular Malaysia Operations (PMO) / Strategic Planner for Petronas Carigali
(2008), PETRONAS
• Team Leader for Work Programme and Budget preparation for PMO (overall budget around
USD1 Billion/year) for 2003 and 2004. Led the presentation to management and business
partner for budgetary and activities approval.
• Provided economic evaluation on the overall operations as well as capital project and lead
the presentation to various management committee for investment decision.
• Established a Petroleum Economics Evaluation function in PMO. Expert user for petroleum
economic software (MERAK – PEEP).
• Important team member for the development of overall Petronas Carigali Long Term
Business Target which include the development of strategy as well as hard target such as
long term production required for each operations, IRR, ROI and NPV. Provided research
results on internal/external situational assessment, oil price forecast, benchmarking on key
indicators etc.
• Lead the special project on Mauritania Operations way forward. Provided the analysis and
presented to the management on proposal for exiting the operations based on commercial
impact.
