SEMI- DETAILED LESSON PLAN

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of a 40 minutes discussion, the students are expected to:
 Describe the different types of chemical reaction;
 Classify the provided chemical equations in each type of chemical reaction;
 Associate the types of chemical reaction in everyday lives.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
Topic: Types of Chemical Reaction
Reference: sciencing.com/write-chemical-reaction
Materials: Laptop, PowerPoint presentation, cut-outs pictures, flashcards.
III. PROCEDURE
A. Preparation
 Greetings
The teacher will greet the students “Good Morning”
 Prayer
The teacher will choose one student from the class to lead the
prayer.
 Checking of Attendance
The teacher will check who is present, absent as well as
latecomers.
 Classroom Rules
The teacher will remind the class about the classroom rules that have
been agreed upon the first day.
 Review
The teacher will ask the students about the previous lesson.
 Motivation
The teacher will group the students into two groups. Then, she will present
an activity called “Puzzles”. First, the teacher will distribute the cut-outs pictures
to the two groups. The students will work by group to solve the puzzle that will
lead them to understand the two types of reaction, namely, combination or
synthesis reaction, and decomposition reaction.
B. DISCUSSION
The teacher will introduce the lesson which is the “Types of Chemical Reaction”
to the students. She then proceeds discussing the lesson with illustration and sample
problem into the screen.
Activity 1. Where I belong.
The teacher will group the class into four then distributes the flash cards to
the students.
1. The flash cards contain pictures, reaction type, general form,
sample chemical reaction, and word equations.
2. Students will discuss and debate whether the cards should be
put in “combination or synthesis reaction” box, or in “decomposition
reaction” box.
3. This activity ensures that the students are listening and they
understand the discussion.
C. APPLICATION
EXERCISE 1: “I am that REACTION” Activity.
1. The teacher will retain the group for this lesson.
2. The teacher will ask each group to write (3) applications of combination
or synthesis reaction and (3) applications of decomposition reaction they
encounter in their everyday lives.
3. This activity is intended for the students to collaborate with their
groupmates. So, the teacher will keep an eye if some members of the
group are not helping.
D. GENERALIZATION
The teacher will recap the lesson to the students. This includes asking students
what they remembered and will ask if there are questions each student has.
IV. EVALUATION
The teacher will ask the groups to take a number in a bowl where it denotes
which group is the first or the last to present.
This is a presentation kind of quiz where the teacher will implement a rubric in
each presentation. Groupings but individual scores.
1. Each group will present the applications they gather. They will explain
to the class why they think it is an application of combination or synthesis
reaction, and decomposition reaction.
2. The teacher will grade the students based on:
Way of presenting - 20%
Group participation - 30%
Understanding - 50%
