MODULE 7

MULTISENSORY TEACHING APPROACHES: logical thinking, verbal instructions,

sequential thinking and indirect experience teaching

Lesson 6. Logical thinking, verbal instructions, sequential thinking, and indirect

experience as Multisensory Teaching Approaches

Introduction

One of the most prevalent challenges teachers have is figuring out how to
accommodate their pupils' multiple intelligences and diverse learning demands.
Teachers may become overwhelmed developing a multisensory approach that
accommodates the unique learning needs of each student with as many as 12 different
ways of processing information but in this module we will only focus to the first four
approaches and these are already mentioned as our topic above.

In this module, set a goal for yourself to achieve the following outcomes:

 Define reflective logical thinking, verbal instructions, sequential thinking and

indirect experience teaching as the multisensory teaching approaches
 Determine its importance

Engage Phase

Activity 1: Peer Talk

The teacher will let the students to choose their own group and will give them specific
question:

 Talk with your peers and ask them their experience, choose one that you think has a
great lesson and share it to the class.

Essential Idea: The students were given a chance to share their experience in the class
which they think are essential to their growth. It is a peer group activity that will
empower the students and to gather lesson from their peer`s experience.
Activity 2: Teach me a lesson!

 From the same group in activity 1, the teacher will call 1 person per group that
will serve as their representative.
 They will be asked by the teacher that from the experiences of others, what
lesson can they get and how will they apply it in their daily lives.
 The teacher will give a rubric for this activity.

Explore Phase

Activity 1: Watch me out

 The teacher will give the students a scenario phrases with numbers for them to
choose.

 The student will expand the phrase into idea within 40 seconds.

Activity 2: Let me do the talking

 The teacher will ask the students if they wanted to expound further the ideas of
their classmates or groupmates, since they will be given a chance to continue
doing so for another 40 seconds.
 They will have the freedom if they wanted to or not.
 The teacher will give the highest points to the group who delivered their idea
concretely and extravagantly.

Apply Phase

Activity 1: De-FINE me!

The teacher will provide a summary of the subject and underline the value of the
multisensory teaching approaches in the educational process.

 The teacher will give a line or phrase and the student will define whether it`s reflective
logical teaching, verbal instruction, sequential teaching or indirect experience teaching
approach.

Activity 2: Support me!

From their chosen answers whether its s reflective logical teaching, verbal instruction,
sequential teaching or indirect experience teaching approach, they will be asked a
second question on why is that they think that their answer is correct.

Assess Phase

Activity 1: Speak it up!

The following questions will be asked to the pupils during an oral assessment by the
teacher.

1. Define reflective logical teaching, verbal instruction, sequential teaching and indirect
experience teaching;

2. Give examples.

Activity 2: Raise your flag

The teacher will ask the students to get ½ sheet of paper, crosswise. They will only be
asked one question and this is;

 For you, what is the importance of the four multisensory aids to teaching as they
will be future educators someday.
 After 3 minutes of writing their ideas, the teacher will say “RAISE YOUR FLAG”
that indicates their time is up and will pass it to the teacher.
IV. Evaluation

Test 1: Oral Recitation

 Teacher will ask the students the importance of multisensory teaching

approaches, and will give the student 40 seconds to answer.
 Create an example scenario wherein they can possibly apply the four
multisensory teaching approaches as a future educator.
