CHAPTER V

SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter presents the summary of the findings and the conclusions

drawn from them. Recommendations were advanced to help improve the

emotional, behavioral, and psychological well being of the student in this time of

pandemic and to add alternative way of managing the effects of covid-19

pandemic.

Summary

This study determined the effects of Covid-19 pandemic on emotional,

behavioral and psychological life of criminology students, and how do

respondents manage those effects in their lives. This study employed the

descriptive-normative research. The descriptive method was used to present the

four groups of respondents from all year levels of criminology students of Naga

College Foundation. The descriptive-normative method was used to determine

the effects of Covid-19 pandemic on emotional, behavioral and psychological life

of criminology students as perceived by the 1 st year up to 4th year criminology

students of Naga College Foundation.

Problem No. 1. What are the effects of pandemic on respondents’

emotional, behavioral and psychological life?

Findings

1. Along Emotional Life, during this pandemic do you feel angry? Got the

highest weighted mean rating while during this pandemic, do you feel

relieved? Received the lowest mean rating. The overall mean rating was

2.65 and interpreted as agree.

2. Along Behavioral Life, moving or speaking so slowly that the other

people could have notice garnered the highest rating while poor appetite

or overeating was the lowest. The overall mean rating was 2.74 and

interpreted as agree.

3. Along Psychological Life, concerned about covid-19 gained the highest

rating while concerned about returning to university got the lowest. The

overall mean rating was 2.78 and interpreted as agree.

Conclusions

1. The criminology students of Naga college foundation agreed that the

covid 19 pandemic affected their emotional status.

2. The criminology students of Naga college foundation accepted the fact

that there were changes in their behavior due to the pandemic

3. The criminology students of Naga college foundation are those individuals

who are concerned in their surroundings. They understand that covid 19 is

a serious disease that can cause death to millions of people.

Recommendations

1. The criminology students may socialize more in this time of new normal,

socializing with others by following the health protocol that the

government had imposed.

2. The criminology students need to adapt the new environment, accept the

fact that we are in a different situation from now on, and be interactive

with different activities in this new normal setting.

3. The criminology students may continue to read articles to gather more

information about covid 19 virus, to understand it well and to know how

to deal with it.

Problem No. 2. How do respondents manage the effects of pandemic on their

lives?

Findings

1. The follow strict personal protective measures (e.g., mask, handwashing

etc.) obtained the highest mean rating while the vent emotions by crying,

screaming etc. got the lowest mean rating. The overall mean rating was

2.77 and interpreted as agree.

Conclusions

1. The criminology students consider covid 19 as a life threat that’s why they

follow the instructions that are given by the government to protect their

health to the dangerous virus.

Recommendations

1. The criminology students shall continue to follow the health protocols.

Inform other people about the consequences of covid 19 and be a good

role model by showing them how to follow the instructions of the

government especially the health protocols.
