OUR HISTORY
Munoz National High School Annex was established on July 10, 2007 on a
10- hectare lot located at the core of Barangay Rizal, Science City of Munoz
through LOGOFIND financing.

The construction of the Annex was spearheaded by the municipal

engineering office during the incumbency of the then municipal mayor,
Efren L. Alvarez, Ph.D. Upon submission of the documentary requirements
and adherence to standard operating procedures of LOGOFIND, the
proposed construction of the Annex was approved on October 23, 2001.

The creation of Project Management Office, the powerhouse or workforce,

materialized with the chief local executive Hon. Nestor L. Alvarez, Ph.D. as its
chair, Engr. Armando E. Miranda as coordinator, Engr. Arnel M. Ruz as
manager and Engineers Rogato H. Mingala, Randy G. Baldedara and Edwin
S. Saliganan as members. With these determined people overseeing the
project land conversion through the Department of Agrarian Reform was
granted on January 12, 2004.

Having conditionally approved during the first presentation to the Policy

Governing Board on February 10, 2005, the project pushed through and was
given full approval on May 19, 2005 with financial scheme of 50% grant, 35%
sub loan, and 15 % equity from LOGOFIND.

MNHS-Annex, situated along Muñ oz-Lupao road, is catering basic secondary

education, implementing K-12 Curriculum to 10 barangays of the Science

INTRODUCTION

Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Z. Duterte addressed

DepEd partners and staff at Imus Pilot Elementary School and said, "The
collaboration between the parents, the teachers, local governments, and the
entire community on Brigada Eskwela opens a deeper and meaningful
collaboration even until after the school year closes."

The success of the Department's plans and programs "shall now

be completed by undying love for the profession of teaching Filipino children,
our children, the future of our nation," VP-Secretary Duterte continued. "With
the national government supporting DepEd and the Basic Education
Development Plan 2030 serving as our guide."

This BE, which runs through August 26, with the theme "Tugon
sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-Aral," highlights the nation's coordinated
efforts from numerous partnership engagements, creating a safe learning
environment for the students, teaching and non-teaching personnel, and
community to achieve safety while ensuring the delivery of quality
education.

A comprehensive initiative called Brigada Eskwela 2022 will be

dedicated to providing both access to and a high standard of education.
Brigada Eskwela sa Paghahanda, which is a few weeks of school maintenance
and modest to medium repair for the resumption of in-person sessions, makes
up the physical part of 2022 BE.

In order to improve education quality in participating schools

and raise student performance, Brigada Eskwela Plus, a component of BE,
aims to boost learner participation, lower dropout rates, and improve
education quality overall. Additionally, in response to Bawat Bata Bumabasa,
Brigada Pagbasa is an after-school reading remediation program (3Bs
Initiatives).
Gerard Chan, the Undersecretary for Legislative Affairs and International Cooperation, agreed that "this ne

Francis Cesar Bringas, Assistant Secretary for Field Operations,

voiced confidence in the Brigada Eskwela 2022's ability to be implemented
safely in the 2022–2023 academic year.

DepEd promises to conduct BE activities and initiatives that will

safely open classes and gradually reintroduce the switch from a blended
learning setup to 5 days of in-person classes as preparations are made
ahead of the August 22 school opening. This is especially important given
the ongoing challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and inevitable
natural disasters.

"We have joined here today to travel the nation with Brigada
Eskwela. It is incredibly motivating, and I sincerely hope that the energy you
are displaying today makes waves and sends waves of the same energy to
the Philippines' most remote public school.

BACKGROUND
Everyone in the Filipino community cares about the youth's
education. The community where they grow is a key stakeholder in their
education, even if it is the government's responsibility to offer free and high-
quality education to every Filipino child and youth. Another significant
investor in these young Filipinos' education is the business sector, which they
will eventually work for. Therefore, it is essential that all of these parties work
together effectively to ensure that Filipino children and youth enroll in, attend,
and learn in school. It presents significant challenges to those involved in
education.

Republic Act 8525, often known as the "Adopt-A-School Act," was

created in 1998 with this attitude of volunteerism and public-private
partnership for education. Private sector businesses and professionals have
the chance to improve the nation's public education system through the
Adopt-A-School Program (ASP). They may take advantage of tax advantages
of up to 150% to acknowledge their goodwill. The Adopt-A-School Program
has attracted more than 200 partners throughout the years, resulting in
projects and interventions totaling around P6 billion.

The Department of Education started the National Schools

Maintenance Week in May 2003 as part of its mission to extend the Adopt-A-
School Program's ethos to local communities, encourage civic engagement,
and make the best use of available resources to enhance public schools. Every
third week in May, teachers, parents, and community members came together
as part of a program called Brigada Eskwela to work on fixing and getting
public schools ready for the start of the new school year. In keeping with the
Bayanihan tradition, local governments as well as private organizations and
individuals helped to raise funds for the project. Volunteers spend their free
time to clean, paint, and do minor repairs on school campuses over the week-
long event.

Brigada Eskwela generated almost P2.5 billion in support-in-kind and volunteer man-hours in 2007 alone

involvement across school communities. Communities, businesses, SMEs,

governmental and non-governmental organizations, and private citizens have
shown that it is gaining more and more traction. Brigada Eskwela is, in fact,
evolving into DepEd's example of a real public-private collaboration in action.

As the Department works to overcome the numerous difficulties

affecting Philippine education, Brigada Eskwela will serve as one of its
frontline initiatives reminding each and every Filipino that we are all
stakeholders in education.
