Straight line in coordinate geometry

Definetion:
a line that extends to both sides till infinity and has no curves is called a
straight line.

Equation of Straight Line

The relation between variables x, y satisfy all points on the curve.
The general equation of straight line is as given below:
ax + by + c = 0 { equation of straight line.
Where x, y are variables and a,b, c are constants.

Important Formulas:
• The equation of a straight line isy=mx+cm is the gradient and c is the height
at which the line crosses the y-axis, also known as the y-intercept.
The gradient m is the slope of the line - the amount by which the y-
coordinate increases in proportion to the x-coordinate.
If you have two points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) on the line, the gradient is
m=y2−y1/ x2−x1

• If you know one point (x1,y1) on the line as well as its gradient m, the
equation of the line is
(y−y1)=m(x−x1)

• Two point form
m passing through a non-vertical line at x1y1 and x2y2
y − y1/ x − x1 = y2 − y1/ x2 − x1
