I. OBJECTIVES:
A. Content Standard:
The learner demonstrates understanding on how Anglo-American literature and other
text types serve as means of preserving unchanging values in a changing world; also how
to use the features of a full-length play, tense consistency, modals, active and passive
constructions plus direct and indirect speech to enable him/her competently performs in
a full-length play.
B. Performance Standard:
The learner competently performs in a full-length play through applying effective verbal
and non-verbal strategies and ICT resources based on the following criteria: Focus, Voice,
Delivery and Dramatic Conventions.
C. Learning Competencies:
EN9G-IVd-23: Expressing permission, obligation, ability, advice and
possibility
a. Identify modals in a song
b. Use appropriate modals in the sentence
c. Give importance on using correct modals in varied situations
B. Strategy: Online Interactive activities- Mentimeter, canva for education, google form,
differentiated group online interaction
Preliminaries:
Pretest: Ask the students to answer the 5 item pretest using google form.

probably sure with your answers but you cannot explain why you made those answers,

As you can see, each sentence has three translation to give you an idea that modals
can change the meaning of the sentence. Why is this so? Now, let us discuss MODALS.
b. Discussing New Concepts and Practicing New Skills ( Indicator 2, 4 and 5) ( Research

Modal Verb is a type of verb that is used to indicate modality like permission, possibility,
obligation and ability. More examples are presented through interactive presentation.

Trivia: Don’t you know that harmful carbon emissions from 2010-2019 have been higher in human

The results of the open ended question will determine the most common reasons why do we
need to master the different types of modals in expressing.
c. Evaluating Learning:
Make a chant describing Muslim Culture using different kinds modal verbs.
1. Song Writer- Compose a 2 stanza- lyric of the song that talks about gifts ,
abilities that humanity enjoy. Use modals in the lyrics.
2. Infographers – Make an infographic that illustrates the obligations of students in
school. Use modals in your texts.
3. Bloggers - Make a blog advising other students to continue learning amidst
new normal . Use modals in your sentences.
