Navigating Negros

By Ira O. Tabino

I will always remember that summer of 2019,

When we were free to go out and all can be seen.
We went on a trip around Negros Occidental,
We rode a bus together; we were twenty in total.

We were amazed by the white sand beaches in Sipalay,

Oh! The view was enough to fill my eye.
We stopped at Parola in Cauayan,
How captivating was the breeze
and lovely was the ocean.

We brought the famous Mila’s buko pie,

We ate them all and if you ask why
They were very delicious and famous
Yes, only in Hinigaran, of course!

And finally, we arrived in Talisay,

We were all excited, again, if you ask why,
The beauty of The Ruins explains it all,
Let’s tour around Negros
when everything goes back to normal.

Questions:

1. When did they go on a trip around Negros?

2. How many joined the trip?
3. What was their mode of transportation?
4. Where did they go first? What was the second place they visited? And how about the
third one?
5. Where can you find “The Ruins”?
6. What does the author want to do when everything goes back to normal?
