Dear Hiring Manager,

As an entry level nurse, I was ecstatic when I heard about the Transitional RN program at Scripps Hospital in
San Diego, California. I am about to receive my BSN from the University of Arizona in an accelerated nursing
program, and I am eager to start my career as a registered nurse in California.

During my clinical rotations, I performed many bedside nursing skills and implemented critical thinking to
make decisions concerning patient care. I practiced skills such as titrating medications, foley catheter
placement, management of chest tubes, IV insertion, etc. I displayed active listening and empathy when
treating patients, as I know patient care is the #1 priority. I aim to create therapeutic relationships with my
patients to develop trust and better patient outcomes. I also expanded my knowledge by looking at real life
examples about lethal heart rhythms, arterial blood gases, and lab levels. I learned to be observant of all
patients by always doing a full physical assessment to look for any changes in patient conditions.

My experience in this program has sparked in interest in emergency medicine. I tend to show my knowledge
when put under pressure and can stay calm in hectic situations. I can communicate effectively with a team and
persevere in tough situations.

One skill I pride myself on is time management. I have learned to look at the most important tasks at hand and
accomplish them in a reasonable manner. Completing tasks efficiently makes the patients satisfied and leaves
room for me to help other nursing staff. I believe in health care being a team effort and I hope to promote this
more in the work environment.

During my time at the University of Arizona I participated in a peer mentorship program and gained numerous
leadership qualities from it. I hope to carry this with me into the nursing professional and feel as if this would
make me a great asset to the nursing staff.

I believe that my leadership qualities, clinical experience, and my ability to learn and accomplish tasks quickly
would make me an excellent candidate for this position. I am open to answer any questions you may have.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to discussing more about why I would be a great fit
for this position.

Sincerely,

Ashley Graffice
