Pada pelajaran Bahasa Inggris, kita mengenal adanya procedure text, yaitu jenis teks yang
ditujukan untuk memberikan informasi kepada pembaca mengenai langkah-langka
melakukan sesuatu.
Seperti yang sudah disebutkan di atas, procedure text biasanya memuat cara membuat
sesuatu, melakukan sesuatu, atau menjalankan sesuatu. Di era media sosial, mungkin kamu
lebih sering menemukannya dalam bentuk video tutorial.

Pada pelajaran Bahasa Inggris, teks ini biasanya diawali dengan adanya kata-kata:

“How to make … ” atau “How to operate … “.

Tapi, bisa juga bentuk soal procedure text adalah berupa pemahaman kamu

mengenai procedure text. Misalnya, kamu diberikan contoh bahan-bahan, kemudian kamu
akan ditanya di mana biasanya teks tersebut kamu temukan.

Ciri Procedure Text

Jika kamu ingin tahu cara mengidentifikasi soal procedure text, kamu bisa melihat dari ciri-
cirinya.

Seperti sebuah petunjuk melakukan suatu hal, maka procedure text biasanya diberikan

dalam kalimat perintah atau bisa juga terdapat kalimat larangan. Soal mengenai procedure
text juga biasanya berisi sebuah instruksi.

Oleh karena itu, procedure text  isinya sangat teknis. Selain itu, karena procedure text adalah
kalimat perintah, maka kalimatnya diawali dengan verb atau kata kerja. Contohnya
seperti mix the seasoning dan boil the noodles.

Kemudian, sebagai petunjuk pembuatan atau melakukan sesuatu, maka procedure text juga

memiliki kata penghubung. Misalnya, after that, first, then, dan finally.
Procedure text juga semestinya memiliki keterangan waktu dalam suatu langkah atau bisa
juga keterangan cara melakukannya. Misalnya, in 10 minutes, slowly, dan for a minute.

Seperti Apa Struktur Procedure Text?

Membicarakan procedure text, kita juga harus tahu strukturnya. Struktur procedure

text terdiri dari: goal/aim, materials/ingredients, dan methods/steps. Kita akan bahas satu per
satu.

1. Bagian pertama adalah goal  atau aim, yaitu bagian procedure text  yang berisi tujuan dibuat

atau ditulisnya teks tersebut. Contohnya, How to Make Creamy Pasta.

2. Bagian kedua adalah materials  atau ingredients, yaitu bagian yang menjelaskan alat atau

bahan apa saja yang akan kita butuhkan untuk melakukan sesuatu sesuai tujuan yang

3. Bagian terakhir adalah methods  atau steps, yaitu berisi langkah-langkah yang perlu kita

lakukan untuk mencapai tujuan atau menyelesaikan sesuatu. Contohnya, langkah pertama

membuat pasta, yaitu: heat olive oil in a medium heat.

Procedure text itu diberikan dalam bentuk kalimat imperative dan prohibition. Soal yang diberikan
pun biasanya bersifat instruksi. Karena sifatnya yang petunjuk, maka biasanya jenis teks

Ada beberapa jenis pertanyaan yang umum kita jumpai setelah membac teks. Teks yang kita

Recipe for French Toast
You are going to need:

Before you start to cook, you have to read the recipe.

Now you can get ready. After you read the recipe, put everything on the counter.

3. Shape the tempe into the size of a golf ball and flatten a little with a fork.
4. Heat the vegetable oil in a medium flame. When the oil is hot, drop the tempe into the
oil, five or six at a time.
5. Fry until golden brown on both sides, drain on absorbent paper and serve hot with
chili or sauce.
