For online students, the teacher will meet them via FB messenger for those with
limited connectivity, video lessons, ppt and test will be sent to them in their FB
classroom.
Science Concepts:
* An eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when an astronomical object or
spacecraft is temporarily obscured, by passing into the shadow of another body.

* Two Major Types of Eclipse:

1. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon comes directly between the Sun and
Earth. A solar eclipse only happens during day time when the position of the
Moon is in between the sun and the earth. The phase of the moon during a solar
eclipse is New moon. A solar eclipse lasts for only a few minutes and occur three
to four times a year.

II. CONTENT

Three types of solar eclipse:

a. A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon completely covers the Sun, as
seen from Earth.
b. A partial solar eclipse happens when the Moon only partially covers the disk
of the Sun
c. An annular solar eclipse occurs when the moon covers the Sun's center,
leaving its outer edges to form a “ring of fire” or annulus.

2. A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon moves into the Earth's shadow. This can
occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are exactly or very closely aligned with
the Earth between considering only on the night of a full moon. A lunar eclipse
may last for up to a few hours and occur about twice a year or more
Three types of lunar eclipses:
a. A total lunar eclipse occurs when the moon and the sun are on exact
opposite sides of Earth and the moon is within the umbra of the shadow of

the Earth. Although the moon is in Earth's shadow, some sunlight reaches
the moon. The sunlight passes through Earth's atmosphere, which causes
Earth’s atmosphere to filter out most of the blue light. This makes the
moon appear red to people on Earth
b. A partial lunar eclipse happens when only a part of the moon enters
Earth's shadow. In a partial lunar eclipse, Earth's shadow appears very dark
on the side of the moon facing Earth. What people see from Earth during a
partial lunar eclipse depends on how the sun, Earth and moon are lined
up.

c. A penumbral lunar eclipse occurs when the moon become

completely immersed in the penumbral cone of the earth’s
shadow without touching the umbra. Since the penumbra is
much fainter than the dark core of the Earth’s shadow, the
umbra, a penumbral eclipse of the moon is often difficult to tell
apart from a regular full moon.

An umbra is the inner, darker part of a shadow. A penumbra is outer, lighter

part of a shadow.

*The only safe way to directly view the sun during a solar eclipse is with special
solar filter or eclipse glasses. Eclipse glasses are made with special filters that
block thousands of times more sunlight than regular sunglasses. Ordinary
sunglasses or homemade filters are not safe for viewing the sun during an eclipse
for the intense energy of the Sun causes damage to the retina. The best way to look
at it is indirectly, as a reflection in the mirror.

___5. The North pole and South pole is at 60 degrees North and South it receives
more amount of sunlight.

B. Establishing a
purpose for the
lesson

C. Presenting *The teacher will ask question.

1. Have you experienced being in dark and bright places? Do you observe that
examples/instances
somehow behind you are something dark portion that is formed on the ground? If
of the new lesson yes, that is a shadow. A shadow is formed when an opaque object is hit by light.
This shadow formation is related to an astronomical phenomenon called eclipses.
In this lesson you will learn eclipse. Listen, participate and enjoy learning!
2. The teacher will explain to students the activity on Eclipse.

Practical Application, Integration, and Valuing:

*The teacher will ask the students “Who’s in the picture? “

nobelang Noli Me Tangere at El Filibusterismo? Itong dalawang nobela na ito ay
