Amazon Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has become the world’s richest person
again
Elon Musk, founder of PayPal, became the world’s richest person on January 7. 24
hours earlier, Bezos held the position as the world’s richest person since 2017.
Both Amazon and Tesla stocks fell on Friday when markets reacted after US
President-elect Joe Biden released the details of his proposed US$1.9 trillion
coronavirus relief package. Amazon’s stock fell by just under 1% on Friday, while
Tesla dropped by over 2%. This was more than enough to see Bezos surpassing
Musk.
Amazon has 16 online market- places outside of the US. Earlier this month, Amazon
announced the building of five new achievement centers in Detroit. Bezos expected to
create more than 2000 permanent full and part-time jobs with a minimum US$15 per
hour wage.
The e-commerce trading site registered its most profitable quarter ever in the three
first months of the pandemic and it ended on September 30, 2020.
