Program: ICT and Software Engineering at Fontys University

Dear Sir/Madam,
I have decided to apply for the Information and Communication Technology program at
Fontys University, because Programming is my passion and I want to become a Software
programmer.
The reason why I have chosen to study in The Netherlands is the future prospect to
work worldwide. I love exploring different cultures, practicing my English skills, and
doing what I am interested in, and I believe The Netherlands will provide me with this
opportunity.And I also have a family there which I will be able to visit more often. After
graduation, I am willing to set the bar higher and higher and I am looking forward to this
new beginning.
What I like the most about the ICT program at Fontys is that it teaches students to work
in teams rather than individually and this gives them a great advantage in their future
careers in the corporate world. Also, during the course of the program, students work
on assignments given from real companies and this helps them develop a sense of what
working really is and possibly make a positive impact for the company. My interest in
mathematics and computers supports my will to study programming at Fontys.
The first time I was introduced to programming was when my friend showed me an app
he had developed and how he could make changes to it only by typing a couple of magic
words. I was thus intrigued and then fascinated by the way programming languages
work. I started watching courses on Skillshare and I got hooked. I have been studying
programming languages such as Python and HTML. I have well-developed analytical and
mathematical skills, I enjoy solving different kinds of problems, I am flexible and I easily
adapt to new environments. After graduating, I wish to become a full stack developer
and work in a big company. I believe this programme will equip me with necessary
knowledge to achieve this.
Teamwork is something I have enjoyed and admired ever since I started training
Basketball 8 years ago. It is a team sport and as a result I have learnt to maintain the
team spirit and work towards a common goal. In addition, I find it highly beneficial to
work in group as people can come together exchange their ideas and experience. I also
have gained the skill to stay calm and focused under pressure, which I believe will
benefit me greatly throughout my future studies.
 In conclusion, I am positive my digital experience and knowledge make me a suitable
candidate for the ICT programme. It answers all my needs, such as programming,
communication, and a lot of practice. I would love to learn data structures, algorithms,
and how to make my code more readable to others. On a personal level, I am sociable,
inquisitive and responsible and I am confident that these qualities will help me meet the
requirements at Fontys. I am sure that after I graduate, I will have the opportunity to
pursue a career as a software engineer and I am looking forward to embarking on that
exciting journey.
