THE PHILIPPINES
1. MT.APO

Mount Apo, also known locally as Apo Sandawa, is a large solfataric, dormant
stratovolcano on the island of Mindanao, Philippines. With an elevation of
2,954 meters above sea level, it is the highest-mountain in the Philippine
Archipelago, Mindanao and 24th-highest peak of an island on Earth

In the Philippines, Mt. Apo is the highest point with an elevation of 3144
Meters above sea level, making it the Grand Father of all Philippine
Mountains and the dream mountain of every Filipino mountaineer.

The climb typically takes two or three days, depending on which of the many
trails you choose, and is not for the faint of heart.

2. MT. DULANG-DULANG

Mount Dulang-dulang, dubbed by Filipino mountaineers as “D2” and also


known as Mount Katanglad, is the highest elevation peak in the Kitanglad
Mountain Range, located in the north central portion of the province of
Bukidnon in the island of Mindanao.

the provinces of Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental, and is the source of
numerous rivers

3. MT. PULAG

Mount Pulag is third highest next to Mount Apo and Mount Dulang-dulang. C.
2000 BC by the native Ibalois. Mount Pulag is famous for its “sea of clouds”
traits exceptional view of the Milky Way Galaxy at dawn, which has attracted
many tourists who wish to see the “other-worldly” scenery.

It’s a 8km trek with a gradual incline to the summit, which would take
around 4-5 hours. Akiki Trail – also located in Kabayan, Benguet. This is a

4. MT. KITANGLAD

It is prominently known as the ancestral domain of three major indigenous
tribes, namely the Talaandig, Higaonon, and Bukidnon. Mount Kitanglad
hosts over 600 rare and endemic species, among them the critically
endangered Philippine Eagle and the conservation-dependent Philippine
Tarsier.

As one of the few remaining rainforests in the Philippines, Mt. Kitanglad is


home to diverse flora and fauna, many of which are rare and endemic.

5. MT. KALATUNGAN

Mount Kalatungan, also known as Catatungan, is a volcanic mountain located
in the province of Bukidnon in the southern Philippines. It is a stratovolcano
with no known historical eruptions and classified by the Philippine Institute
of Volcanology and Seismology as a potentially active volcano.

Everest climber Carina Dayondon has described Mt. Kalatungan, the chief
mountain, as a “difficult climb”. Coupled with the logistic difficulty of
climbing Kalatungan, it has grown a reputation as being one of the most
difficult climbs in the country

6. MT. TABAYOC

Mount Tabayoc is a mountain located in Buguias, Benguet, near Ifugao in
Cordillera Administrative Region. It has a total height of 2,820m above sea
level (9,250 ft), making the sixth highest mountain in the Philippines and
second highest peak in the island of Luzon.

Mt. Tabayoc, in Kabayan, Benguet, is the second highest mountain in Luzon


and the fifth in the Philippines. Like its southern neighbor, Mt. Pulag, it has
name variants, such as Tabayac or Talbayog.

7. MT. PIAPAYUNGAN

Mt Piapayungan lies to the southeast of Lake Lanao and east of the Butig
Mountains, on the borders between Lanao del Sur, North Cotabato and
Maguindanao Provinces. To this day, it remains to be one of Mindanao’s most
elusive peaks.

Mount Piapayungan (2 815m/9 236ft a.s.l.) is a mountain in Philippines. The


prominence is 1 595m/5 233ft.

8. MT. RAGANG

Also known as the Blue Mountain, Mt. Ragang is the highest point in Lanao
Del Sur. The trek here is not an easy one but will be worth it because of the
beautiful view of Lake Lanao as well as towns of Maguindanao, Lanao del
Sur, and Cotabato.

Ragang is one of several dominantly basaltic volcanoes west of the cordillera


in central Mindanao. Historical eruptions, many of which were at one time
attributed to neighboring Makaturing volcano, have been recorded since
1765.

9. MT. MAAGNAW

Mt. Maagnaw is the third highest peak in the Kitanglad range and one of the
highest Philippines mountains. If you’ve hiked Mt. Dulang-Dulang and Mt.
Kitanglad, you can also conquer Mt. Maagnaw. It will be a challenge but the
views at the summit are truly breathtaking.

Mt. Maagnaw shares the ethno cultural heritage of Kitanglad and Dulang-
Dulang, being part of the ancestral domain of the Talaandig tribe. A
ceremony has to be performed in which a sacrifice of chickens must be done
the night before the climb.

10. MT. TIMBAK

The scenery at Mt. Timbak features mostly villages and vegetable fields. At
the summit, there are three crosses in what is dubbed as “mini-Calvary”.
There’s also a sea of clouds, and you can view TaPanPu (Tabayoc, Panotoan,
and Pulag) and the range leading all the way to Mt. Ugo.

Mount Timbak (or Mount Singakalsa) is one of Atok, Benguet’s most
frequented tourist destinations. It has an elevation of 2,717 meters above
sea level making it the 3rd highest peak in Luzon.
