REQUIREMENT: PRELIMS

Give your insight about the relation of Mathematics and nature. Write your
answer on the space provide below. Your answer will be rated based on: Content
5 points; Originality 5 points and Organization 5points. Use extra sheet of
bond paper if necessary.

Mathematics isn’t just about solving problems, it’s also about the world around
us. Because mathematics is everywhere and it’s amazing how much of our nature
is made up of numbers and other elements. The beauty of our nature can be
described mathematically, wherever you look, wherever you go, there are
numerous things in nature that are formed of shapes and patterns. Math and
Nature will always have a close association because Math can be found
everywhere in nature, from leaf arrangements in plants, architecture in humans,
and so on. It also uncovers underlying patterns that helps us to understand the
world us and/ or to interpret the beauty of our nature. Therefore, I believe
that God is a great mathematician, and He made the could with such accuracy.

Make a collage of the things or objects that relates to your future career as a
nurse, radiologic technologist, medical technologist, pharmacist, midwife,
dental technician, pharmacy assistant, physical therapist, teacher,
psychologist, social workers, custom broker, tourism or hotel manager, IT
specialist, computer engineer or a criminologist. Use the golden rectangle
below in making your collage or you may use extra sheet of bond paper or 1/8
illustration board in making your collage. Your output will be rated using the
following criteria.

Criteria 10 8 6 4 2 Score
Creativity, use of original ideas,
self-reflection
Art skills and techniques, used
media, use of design elements and
principles,
Craftsmanship, control of Media care
taken for work
Timeliness of submission, submit the
activity ahead of time or on the
deadline
Completion of the self-evaluation
Analysis of the Artwork/Self-Evaluation
1. What was most successful about your work? WHY?
How my collage was most successful, Firstly, I prayed to God that my output
or my work, would become good and most successful. And I’m doing my best for
everything in this collage. After that, I can’t believe that what I did not
expect or thought became even more successful and creativity.

2. Described how the project could have been improved.

How my project could have been improved, First I use my own original ideas
and self-reflection for being creativity. Second, I realized that if we
create a collage, we also need art skills and techniques, so I used. Lastly,
I have confidence and responsible to do things so that it can improved my
project properly.

3. What did you learn from your own output.

In my own output, I’ve learned that it relates to my future career as a
great professional nurse someday. And I also learned that nursing is a good
career because I have a high level of passion and creativity in this career.
We all know that the success of each nurse can be found not just in the care
of their patients, but also in the patient’s recovery time, that’s why I
realized nursing is a big opportunity for me and my future, but also in our
society.

Direction: Answer the following briefly but substantially. Give your personal
insights in each of the following questions. Your answers will be rated using
the following criteria: Content 5 points; coherence 5 points; originality 5
points and clarity of the answer 5 points. Put your answer in a bond paper and
compiled it as part of your portfolio.

1. Identify things in nature and explain the concept of mathematics embedded in

it. (Post a picture of the object you have selected.)

SUNFLOWER
The thing that I identified in nature is the sunflower because math is embedded
in my object since, if we look closely at the head of sunflower, we will see
that the structures destined to become seeds grow in an intricate pattern of
interwoven spirals. Such patterns are uncommon in plants, but they have
intrigued and inspired several mathematical studies on our nature. According to
my research, two French scientists have set up physical model that behaves in
the same way, producing the distinctive spiral patterns. Therefore, the head of
a sunflower exhibits two sets of spirals, one running clockwise and the other
counterclockwise. Intriguingly, the number of spirals in one set is related to
the number of items in the order in a special way. The two numbers are always
adjacent members of the so-called Fibonacci series.

2. What is the most significant impact of the golden ratio to human

development?
The golden ratio is so fascinating that proportions of the human body, such as
the face, follow the so-called Divine Proportion. The closer the proportions of
the body parts to the golden ratio, the more aesthetically pleasing and
beautiful the body is. According to what I’ve read, many painters, including
Leonardo da Vinci, were fascinate with the golden ratio in human development,
and it is important in mathematics and life, because there’s a common
mathematical ratio found in nature that can be used to create pleasing and
natural-looking compositions in our design work.
3. What is main function of mathematics in your course?
When writing in prescriptions or administering drugs, nurses employ math. This
is significant since the patient will be aware of the drug intervals because of
this. All nurses should be able to calculate drug dosages, such as tablet
doses, solution doses, and intravenous fluid rates and drugs.

4. Explain by citing examples, how is mathematics related to nature?

In nature, mathematics has a close association. For example, whether we go on a
beach vacation or go trekking, we are often taken aback by the beauty of the
world around us. The shifting hues of the sky from sunrise to sunset, the
contour of the rainbow of harmony. The changing tint of color, as well as the
diverse shapes of shells and the patterns of waves in the ocean, must be
prefect measurements to appear attractive and harmonious to the human sight. It
is a branch of mathematics that reveals nature’s simplifications and allows us
to extrapolate from basic instances to the intricacies of reality.

Translate the given verbal statements to mathematical statements. Let n, m and

p are the numbers. Every appropriate translation is worth two points otherwise
its 1 point. Write your answer in a bond paper and compile it in your
portfolio.
1. The product of two numbers divided by 2 is 32
= (n)(m)/2=32 or n.m/2=32
2. The square of the difference of two numbers is not equal to 10.
= (n-m) ²≠ 10

3. The square root of a number added its reciprocal.

= √ p +1/p
4. The product of a number and seven is equal to two more than the same
number.
= p+2=7p
5. There exist two even numbers such that their products are also even
= ∃2(2mn)=2m(2n)

Translate the following mathematical statements to verbal sentence. Write your
