UNDERSTANDING THE SELF

Activity 2: Be-YOU-tiful

1. What is your own definition of beauty?

 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as the saying

goes. Everyone has their own definition of what
beauty is and what it means to them. For some,
beauty is skin deep and is all about looking good on
the outside. For others, beauty is more than skin
deep and is about what is on the inside as well.
Beauty is skin deep and is all about looking good on
the outside. For me, beauty is about being
comfortable in your own skin and being confident in
who you are. It is about being kind and
compassionate, and having a positive outlook on
life. It is not about what you look like on the
outside, but about who you are on the inside.

2. How can you describe yourself physically? Do you consider yourself beautiful?
 I am 5'0", with long hair and brown eyes. I would describe my body type as average. I don't think
of myself as being particularly beautiful, but I do think I am pretty. I don't have any one physical
feature that I would consider to be my best asset, but overall I think I am attractive. I am
confident in my appearance and I think that comes across to others. Body: I am comfortable in
my own skin and I think that is reflected in my confidence. I don't compare myself to others or try
to meet some unrealistic standard of beauty. I am happy with who I am and how I look.

3. Who do you look up to in terms of being beautiful in and out? Why?

 There are many people in the world who are beautiful in and out. However, there are some people
who stand out more than others in terms of their physical beauty and their inner beauty. In terms
of physical beauty, I look up to people like Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez. They are both incredibly
beautiful women with amazing bodies. In terms of inner beauty, I look up to people like Oprah
Winfrey and Mother Teresa. They are both incredibly kind and compassionate people who have
done a lot of good in the world. Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez are two of the most beautiful women
in the world. They are both amazing singers and dancers. They are also very kind and
compassionate. They have both done a lot of work to help empower women and Latinx people,
respectively. They have also both been vocal advocates for social justice. Oprah Winfrey and
Mother Teresa are two of the most kind and compassionate people in the world. Oprah has done a
lot of work to help empower people of color and has also been a vocal advocate for social justice.
Mother Teresa devoted her life to helping the poor and needy. She was also a vocal advocate for
social justice.

4. How can you spread body positivity? Give at least 3 examples.

 Body positivity is the belief that all people should be accepted and comfortable in their own
bodies, no matter their size, shape, or appearance. There are many ways to spread body positivity
and promote self-love and acceptance. Here are just a few examples:

1. Speak kindly to and about yourself. One of the best ways to spread body positivity is to
start with yourself. Treat yourself with kindness and respect, and avoid speaking negatively
about your own body. This will help you to develop a more positive relationship with your
own body, and will also set a good example for others.

2. Be accepting of others. Another way to spread body positivity is to be accepting of others,

no matter their size, shape, or appearance. This includes family, friends, and strangers. By
showing others that you accept and respect them, you can help to create a more positive and
inclusive environment for everyone.

3. Stand up for yourself and others. If you see someone being treated unfairly or
disrespectfully because of their size, shape, or appearance, speak up! This can be a difficult
thing to do, but it’s important to stand up for yourself and others. This is one of the best ways
to create lasting change and promote body positivity.
