Background
In the modern day, electronic devices and media have unintentionally merged into our daily life. Since
the past five years, the growth in mobile phone density has expanded dramatically. Mobile phone usage
among adolescents has significantly increased, largely because this technology becomes much more
relevant during adolescence than it does during earlier developmental stages (Hedge, Suman, Unais,
Jeyakumar, 2019).
In the last few decades, technological growth has brought about tremendous changes in global
communication. With the advent of the internet in the 1990s, social networking sites (SNSs) emerged.
Social media usage has since increased rapidly can have an effect on students' study habits and
academic performance depending on how students use it and how long they engage on it (Aku, Omale
2020).
In Dakshina Kannada District, technology has been growing rapidly and today’s era is surrounded by tech
products. Electronic gadgets have its impact on people of all fields and ages including children. Children
of today’s era rely on technology for majority of their play. Almost all the students especially high school
students are seen of using different kinds of electronic gadgets everyday like cellphone, Ipad, Psp, etc.
Electronic gadget’s usage is like a double edge sword. Using them carefully would have a positive impact
but on the same time any false use would have a negative impact.
In Zambales, students are using the modern technology improperly. Their study habits and academic
standing were merely affected. They could not focus on their studies because of too much pleasure
brought about by the modern technology such as addiction on computer games and improper browsing
