MY REFLECTION:

“PAMULAAN CENTER FOR INDIGENOUS PEOPLES

EDUCATION”

Indigenous people in our country have long suffered from discrimination,

prejudice, harm, and inequality, especially in terms of education. When they are put in
and study in a regular school, they feel ostracized and alienated from their own selves,
which somehow lowers their self-esteem and determination to pursue their studies,
passions, and dreams. These made me realize that the Pamulaan Center for
Indigenous Peoples Education that was being discussed in the video was indeed
magnificent, beneficial, and significant to every indigenous peoples life. This serves as
the great foundation for their education, development, success, prosperity, and the
attainment and realization of their rights.

The Pamulaan Center for Indigenous Peoples Education is an educational

institution dedicated to the indigenous people of our country. Its principal
responsibility is to give IP youngsters, kids, community leaders, and development
professionals proper and pertinent training and formation. It aimed to create leaders
with the necessary skills and development personnel who were dedicated to creating
sustainable communities and advancing the IP rights to life, land, self-government,
and cultural integrity. This addresses the inclusivity of Philippine education by
providing indigenous people the opportunity to access and benefit from a quality
education without feeling discriminated and ostracized. It enables them to learn,
improve their competence, and acquire skills from the various offered subjects and
degree programs based on the knowledge system, needs, values, and cultural
practices of their indigenous group. It provided them with academically and culturally
sensitive education that further cultivated their culture, identity, core values, and
heritage, and also their competencies to the outside education. These help them to be
empowered, confident and proud of themselves, their culture and race. Furthermore,
their Teacher Training Degree also helps to address the inclusivity of our country’s
education by giving importance in molding adequate, effective, and proficient
indigenous teachers who will be the ones to facilitate learning and impart knowledge
and skills to all indigenous individuals and groups across our country. They will be the
ones to provide effective and responsive curricula, lesson strategies, instructional
materials, and teaching methods. In addition, government assistance are also stated
on the video, they provided the Pamulaan adequate funds and other necessary
support, which are very important to foster the institution. With the presence and
attainment of all of those, the Pamulaan can and will continue to achieve great
progress and achieve effective and efficient inclusive education for all indigenous
people and groups all across the Philippines.

The Pamulaan taught me that they develop graduates with knowledge,

abilities, and skills who are still entrenched in their culture through their culturally
relevant pathways in training and formation of the indigenous people. It enables
indigenous people to remain anchored in their original cultures while yet making
contributions to the advancement of our nation, being proficient members of their
communities and our society, and being globally competitive. All of those support
efforts helps to address the educational system’s inclusion in our nation.
