The answer for why irradiance data is important:

Solar energy is a renewable energy source that depends on the irradiation data parameters to be
efficient. Therefore, before investing in a new solar plant, it is necessary to gather the most solar data
possible. With this data and the help from a specialist, we will get a solar resource assessment

Since the peak solar radiation at the sea level is 1 kW/m 2 (when the sun is directly above without
clouds), the number of peak sun hours is numerically identical to the average daily solar insolation. For
example, a location that receives 8 kWh/m 2 per day can be said to have received 8 hours of sun per day
at 1 kW/m 2.

In PV system design it is essential to know the amount of sunlight available at a particular location at a
given time. The solar radiation may be characterized by the measured solar irradiance (power per area
at a given moment) (or radiation) and by the solar insolation (the energy per area delivered over a
specified time period). The solar radiance is an instantaneous power density in units of kW/m2. The
solar radiance varies throughout the day from 0 kW/m2 at night to a maximum of about 1 kW/m2

To find radiant exposures H in J/m² or kWh, integrate your 1-minute averages. Depending on your

application, calculate hourly totals, daily totals or daily mean irradiance by integrating over different
time intervals dt.

Generation history data by (month, year) for at least 1 or 2 years ago:

Here we will get harvest info in kwh as measured on inverter smart application.

Answer for which data will gather and how I will use it:

The on-grid system design

From generation history will get kwh data by month then will get the median from it to calculate system
required

N+1\2 n = number of kwh data for each month

after that will get the direct irradiance hours for each month from generation history

total month load in kwh \ 30days \ system in kw = irradiance hours per day

then get the median to select the a final direct hours

n+1/2 n = number of direct hours for each month

now we have reliable irradiance hours form a one system and will repeat steps on others after that we
compare between them and get the median to select the final irradiance hours which will be our basic in
measuring on-grid systems in our program.

The program design

We will develop a website application to calculate a reliable on-grid pv system

In the first page we will ask the user the following :

1.The monthly load consume must be in kw

We put a note that you can get the kw from your monthly bill which is written there.

2.The rooftop area space

Which will make us give a suitable pv size to fit his area

From pv size data we will set a constant equation

Number of modules x Area of a module Surface =area of the system

So if client get much surface area we can advise a more pv modules with flexibility in choosing pv
wattages and if got small area we give a few number of modules this will control the pv size.

To calculate the number of panels needed – Divide the Total Watt hours to be produced by the rated
power output of the PV modules. This provides the number of PV modules needed.

In the second page after client encode the required info then we show the reliable system will be
calculated by

Monthly load consume \ 30 days \ direct irradiance hours= on-grid system required

Then we give a basic plant info:

A. number of modules = area of the system \ area of the module surface

= required system \ rated power outed of PV modules

If client surface area is wide we use the second equation

Note that surface area only important for small area residence.

B. inverter capacity.

Which will be equal to required on-grid system in kw.

Then we give return of investment by

ROI= (monthly bill \ total system cost) x 100
