What’s New

1. It's unlikely that the tree's increased mass is due to matter absorbed from the soil.

2. He deduced that the water he provided increased the tree's mass.

3. Because of the organic compound required for growth, the tree has grown in size.

Independent Activity 3

1. Light is absorbed and converted to chemical energy in the bonds of NADPH

and ATP during the light reaction.

2. To replace the two electrons lost in chlorophyll, water is divided to provide the
electrons required.

3. The electron transport chain, which is entrenched in the inner mitochondrial

membrane and shuttles electrons from NADH and FADH2 to molecular oxygen, is
a sequence of electron-transport molecules. Protons are pumped from the
mitochondrial matrix to the inter-membrane space, and oxygen is reduced to create
water, as part of this process.

Independent Assessment 3

4. Electrons are taken from water and transmitted via PSII and PSI before arriving
at NADPH in a process known as non-cyclic photophosphorylation (the “standard"
version of the light-dependent processes). This procedure necessitates the
absorption of light twice, once in each photosystem, and it results in the
production of ATP.

5. By activating non photochemical quenching, cyclic flow generates ATP and

protects plants from stress. The PGR5 and NDH pathways are two distinct cyclic
flow pathways. Competition for oxidizing ferredoxin is most likely how cyclic
flow is regulated.
What I Have Learned

I discovered that electrons are transmitted to iron-sulfur proteins in the lamellar

membrane in light reaction I, and then to ferredoxin, a tiny water-soluble iron-
sulfur protein. What is the significance of plants in our lives? Plants are crucial in
our lives because they convert carbon dioxide into oxygen, which is necessary for
us to live and breathe. Plants also provide us with food, such as fruits, and
generate nutrients that our bodies require. Plants also assist us in our society, since
many plants become profitable.
