Directed Assessment

Direction: Read each paragraph and explain what you would do and why.

1. As a teacher, a parent demanded that you take out the crucifix inside your classroom
because the religion they belong to does not believe in the crucifix. He insists that
his child is being taught the wrong values. How will you respond to the parent?

As a teacher, we truly understand about their stand and concerns about his
child. We will respect their decisions about their beliefs. We will talk in a
certain good way. I will explain that, it’s part of our learning to listen and be
curious on what is other things about. We have a different point of view in our
religion, but we cannot leave the side that we will not going to listen on other
side of religion. We are not forcing our children on what they will choose or
what they are going to do. In school the student is obligated to listen and
accept the facts on different side of reality specially on this religion matter.
We are discussing of what they are needed to know but we are not interfering
to their decisions. Positive and respectful problem – solving can help you and
the teacher work towards a solution.

3. You plan a relay game for your class. While you are explaining the mechanics of the
game, one student raises her hand and says she can’t do a particular task in the
game because she has a prosthetic leg. How will you respond to this situation

As a teacher we should consider all the aspects or situation of the students.

Even they are normal or disabled person. In giving an activity in our class we
should have a many plans. In the situation above, of course we should
consider the disabled student in every activity . If they did not participate,
what grades are we going to compute to them. They need to participate for
them not to feel shy or afraid in crowded people. They should know how to
communicate to others student, they should not feel or think that they are
different to them. As I was saying it’s very effective if we have a plan A, plan B,
plan C, and so on. Her disability is not opposing on what she wants to do and
needed to do in her life. I should help her to encourage always in our
activities, don’t feel ashamed on her physical appearance. I should always
believe on their capability on what can she do.
