SOLIDS WITH FLAT FACES
The surface area of a three-dimensional shape with flat faces is the sum of the areas
of the faces.

A clock tower has the dimensions shown. On each side of the tower
there is a clock which is 2m in diameter. The highest point of the
tower is 24 m above the ground level.
b) The whole tower, excluding the clocks, is to be painted. Find, correct to 3 significant figures,
the surface area to be painted.
c) If 1L of paint covers an area of 12m2, how much paint is needed to paint the whole tower?
