HOW TO CREATE A
VINTAGE CORK
COASTER
UPCYCLE PROJECT
An easy guide to assembly a vintage cork coaster.

Upcycle definition
Is a way of reusing discarded objects or materials to create a product of higher
quality or value than the original.

Materials Instructions

1.Bottle corks 4.Glue 7.Colander


2.Cardboard 5.Cutter 8.Cooking pot
3.Scissors 6.Pencil 9.Stove
1.Place a colander inside a
cooking pot with water,
and turn on the stove on
medium heat.

2.Place ten corks inside the colander and


let them steam for 10-15 minutes, after
the water starts to boil. Remove the
colander from the pot, and let the corks
cool to the touch.

3.Locate the ceneter of the cork and


cut it in half with a cutter.

4. In a piece of
cardboard, draw a
circule from the size of
the bottom of a mug,
and cut it with scissorss
or cutter.

5.Glue the corks to the circle,


starting from the inside and filling
the borders until there are no
spaces left on the cardboard.
6.Cut the excess cardboard if needed,
and decorate with ribbons or craft
rope if desired. Warning: Minors must be
supervised by an adult while
using the stove and cutter to
avoid burns and cuts, which can
lead to serious injuries.
