Conditional clauses worksheet.


In this worksheet you are going to learn about the conditional clause.
What are conditional cluses?
 Conditional clauses are used to talk about real or unreal situations,
sometimes called… if-clauses.
Used to show an action is reliant on something else.
 Real conditional describes real life situations
 Unreal conditional describes unreal or imaginary life situations

 Type 1 conditional: uses a simple present tense in the if-clause and will /


can / may + first form of the verb in the main clause.

 Type 2 conditional: uses a simple past tense in the if-clause and


would/could/might + first form of the verb in the main clause.

 Type 3 conditional: uses a past perfect tense in the if-clause and


would/could/might + have + past participle in the main clause.

Type 1 Condition + result If you stand in the rain, you get wet.
Type 2 Condition + result If I won the lottery, I would travel a lot.
Type 3 Condition + result If I hadnt been sick, I would have gone to your party
