It is a well-known fact that these days, students have increasingly decided to go abroad for
entering colleges and universities. Despite certain benefits associated with this trend, it is not
without drawbacks.
On the one hand, there are two primary advantages of the popularity of studying abroad in
contemporary society. First, given that universities in developed countries over the world employ
lecturers who are experts in their field, students can be trained professionally and equipped with
necessary skills. This means they are more likely to gain in-depth knowledge and hands-on
experience than those studying domestically. Second, when a student chooses to study abroad,
he/she has more opportunities to brush up on a second language and be exposed to different
cultures. For example, Vietnamese people often go to the US because most American use
English in daily communication and it’s a cultural melting pot where they can absorb a variety of
interesting things.
On the other hand, these positives cannot offset the negatives of studying abroad. In order to
study and settle in abroad, many families have to meet difficult requirements such as visas. To
that end, families having a child choose this route might have not only time but also financial
capacity to address problems relating to paperwork. Furthermore, leaving the place where they
were born and raised in for a long time must be a barrier difficult to overcome. The reason is that
