C. Justify each rule in constructing and essay type of test.

 Rule 1: Phrase the direction in such a way that students are guided on the key
concepts to be included.
When explaining this guideline, be sure to explain it in such a manner that
the students will be able to distinguish between the essential keys and ideas that they
will be included in their works.

 Rule 2: Inform the students about the grading standards that will be used to
evaluate their writings. Due to this guideline, pupils are able to concentrate on
important and substantial topics rather than on peripheral and superfluous facts and
pieces of information.
In accordance with these guidelines, students may concentrate on important
and substantial content rather than on irrelevant or superfluous facts and tidbits of
information..

Rule 3: Put a time limit on the essay test.
A time limit will provide students with an adrenaline rush as they work hard to
complete the task in a limited amount of time, and for me, it helps us to improve our
thinking capabilities so that we can retain more information because our mind works
properly and cooperates with various words to form groups of sentences to support a
particular point of view on the subject matter.

Rule 4: Prior to receiving the writings from your pupils, decide on your essay
grading method.
Prior to receiving the writings from your pupils, decide on your essay grading
method.

Rule 5: Evaluate all of the students’ answers to one question before proceeding to the
next question.
Scoring or grading essay test question by question makes it possible to maintain
a more uniform standard for judging the answers to each question. When all of the
answers on the paper are read together, the grader’s impression on the papers a whole
is apt to influence the grades he assigns to the individual answers.

Rule 6: Evaluate answers to essay questions without knowing the identity of the
writer.
Doing this kind of scoring helps to avoid bias during scoring. All of the answers
written in the essay should be evaluated according to the content and connection of it
to the topic, not in a way that the writers and scorer will be graded due to their
relationship.

Rule 7: Whenever possible, have two or more persons grade each answer. The best
way to check on the reliability of the scoring of essay answers is to obtain two or
more independent Judgments
In order to check the reliability of scoring, someone will be given the chance to
evaluate or judge the other works of a specific student to ensure that the said essay
was been scored correctly.

Rule 8: Do not provide optional questions
It is difficult to construct questions of equal difficulty and so teacher cannot have
valid comparison of student’s achievement.

Rule 9: Provide information about the value/weight of the questions and how it will be
scored
This rule is needed to discuss with the students for them to understand the need
to write their bopinions with supported evidences to get higher score based on the
given criteria.

Rule 10: Emphasize higher level thinking skills

The deeper thoughts and information provided in the essay, the better score will
be given by the scorer. Choices of words and relevant or concrete ideas will highlight
that the writers have a higher level thinking skills.

E. In a 100-item test, what type of objectives test will you include? Justify your
answer.
It is essential that the ultimate goal of teaching is student learning result for
future educators. Ideally, I would like to develop a 100-item test that includes various
types of objective tests, such as a 10-item matching-type test, a 10-item true-false test,
a 50-item multiple test, and an essay type of essay (30 points), in order to access a
wide range of higher order thinking skills in students and to be fair to the different
knowledge of students, since we all have our own set of skills and abilities. Finally,
instructors must provide suitable exams to students in order to identify and correct
any weaknesses. It is possible for instructors to determine whether or not various test
formats have an impact on students' performance by administering different tests to
them.

F. In the sample essay “Plant Photosynthesis” given in this section, why would you
give zero (0) score to the student writing this essay? Justify your answer.
This example essay on "Plant Photosynthesis" is written in the third person. In
this case, the student would get a zero since his or her assignments are insufficiently
comprehensive and lack relevant information. The essay is divided into three parts,
however the student only provides the introduction, no body, and no conclusion, as
required. Some of the sentences in her essay are repetitive since the concepts are the
same as in the previous phrase or paragraph. This student failed to provide any proof
to support her assertions, which is odd to say the least. The student lacked the
capacity to inspire and convince her readers to believe in what she was saying. In
particular, the students merely provide a short explanation of photosynthesis, and she
is completely oblivious to the meaning of the term.

G. Give an example of supply type test that will measure higher order thinking skills
(beyond mere recall of facts and information).
1. ___________ type of test that you match the items in column A in column B.

________?
4. _______ are chosen in such a way that they are attractive to those who do not know
the answer or are guessing but at the same time have an appeal to those who actually
know the answer.
5. ____________is a type of test that often test lower order thinking skills and are
unable to test higher order thinking skills such as judgement and application skills.

H. In what sense is a matching type test a variant of a multiple choice type of test?
Justify your answer.

When it comes to tests, matching type is a kind of exam in which all things in column
A or the questions match in items that are found in column B or the answers, while
multiple choice is a type of test in which there are more than two choices such as a,b,c
or a,b,c. A matching type exam, on the other hand, is ideally suited for assessing
association and presents the student with questions and options, while a multiple
choice type test allows for evaluation of a broad variety of learning goals.

I. In what sense is a supply type of a test considered a variant of multiple choice type
of test? (Hint: In supply type, the choices are not explicitly given). Does this make the
supply type of test more difficult than close multiple choice type of test? How? Unlike
supply-type questions, which require students to create the answer in whatever format
they want (from a single word to a lengthy essay), multiple choice items are objective
assessments in which respondents are required to choose just the right responses from
a list of options. Yes, supply test is more difficult than close multiple choices since
choices are not given, it requires with great thinking skills and retention.
J. Choose learning competencies from the k to 12 Curriculum Guide. Construct
aligned paper-and-pencil test observing guidelines in test construction. Include all
selected response and constructed response types of test.

One of the learning competencies I have chosen from the K to 12 Curriculum Guide is
the Grade 7 Science Unit 2 (Living Things and their Environment). With this, I will
construct various types of paper-and-pencil test which observes guidelines in test
construction.
