Introduction

The following SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) intended to address the Slickline job process
for EEPCI. It helps to design, prepare, execute and close the service run for EEPCI. The SOP is not intended
to replace the Specific process. If any question, review with Manager prior taking any decision.

The objectives for this document are:

• Define standard requirements for Slikcline services in Chad.


• Standardize report to Client.
• Achieve consistent improve service quality.
• Improve experience transfer between Tornado (TOS) and our Clients.
• Standardize and shorten intervention programs, referring them to this document.
This document covers the following logging services:

A. All slickline operations run for EEPCI


In case additional services are run before the next revision of this document, procedures for those will
be documented in the logging program.

1. Safety
The follow safety concern to be address prior mobilizing for EEPCI operation.

1.1. PPE
All personnel require the following PPE to work outside the living quarters:

• IFR coveralls (Inherently flame resistant).


• Safety boots.
• Hard Hat.
• Safety Glasses.
• Gloves
Specific PPE to be worn at all the time such as:

- Bee net
- Ear plug

1.2. Work Permit

Prior to mobilizing to the wellsite, you will need to create an e-permit though the EEPCI system called
e-vision. All requirement to be ticked off and discussed. A JSA specific to the operation should be attached
to the e- PTW. The permit will be reviewed, endorsed and approved by the client. Once approved, the
Supervisor needs to print a copy of this permit and bring it to the wellsite with him. The e-permit is run for
12 hours operation, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and 6:00PM to 6:00 AM.

1.3. Gas detector


A gas testing is mandatory for all operation in the OFDA. The Gas testing is the first thing to be done
when you arrive at the wellsite. The Slickline supervisor makes the test while equipment and personnel are
outside the location. In addition, a bomb test (functional test of the gas detector using a gas cylinder) needs
to be done every morning prior to mobilizing to the wellsite (HSE Office). In the case of continuous
operation (2 to more days), a possibility of having more than two gas detectors is there. Every morning
bomb test needs to be done for each of the gas detector.

1.4. Driving
Driving is one the biggest risk in the oil field. All personnel involved in the driving must follow
TORNADO driving policy and the EEPCI driving speed. The driving speed within the OFDA depends on
the nearby village. The speeds are set to 30Kph while driving inside a village and 50Kph while outside a
village. To prevent risks related to driving, EEPCI implemented driving checklist and JSA to be reviewed
and signed off by the driver and all passenger in the vehicle before commencing a trip.

2. Roles and responsibilities


Slickline services shall be supervised by an EEPCI representative, called Rigless supervisor.

The Slickline Supervisor is to ensure that all tools are within operating specifications and that the
operation is performed efficiently.

Any deviation or changes to the Intervention Program must be reported to the Slickline manager and
discussed between members of the EEPCI Wellwork team . The Wellwork superintendent must approve
any significant changes to the program, which may affect well objectives.

EEPCI Wellwork team is to ensure that the Intervention Program including all necessaries details (Well
sketch, well history, intervention sequences, is sent to Slickline team 48hours prior to the operation for an
efficient job design. 24 hours is needed between jobs for job preparation.

3. Equipment Transportation, diesel and food request

The Slickline team needs to request a transportation truck that has capability to contain Slickline
Wellhead equipment and to track the assigned compressor, 24 hours notice in advance from the logistic
departement.

To be able to get a food for the Slickline team at the location where the job is performed, an email needs
to be sent 24 hours, in advance by the Slickline Supervisor to the CIS supervisor. CIS is a company, which
supplies catering services to Tornado and EEPCI. Destination email address is
KMECISK5SiteManager@exxonmobil.com and cc the following people: Wellwork supervisor and
Slickline manager. The food request include the following details:

- Location where the food needs to supplied : Well Name


- Number of people
- Meals type : Breakfast, Lunch , Dinner and Midnight if you are doing rig continuously
- Duration of food supply: Start Date of the job and End Date of the job.

You will need also to make request for diesel 24 hours before the mobilization. The client will supply
diesel to the location for the number of days you require. Diesel supply is necessary for the running of
the compressors, light machines, and the logging truck. An email should be sent to the following people:

4. Service delivery
4.1. Job design
In order to prepare the job in the base, you must request an Intervention Program from EEPCI. This
program needs to be got from the Wellwork Coordinator 48 hours in advance. The contact email for the

The Tornado Intervention Program includes the following details:

4.2. Job preparation

- Perform wellsite visit to check the location and hazard related to the operation. The wellsite visit
also will confirm the wellhead connection, rig up height.
- Create the work permit through the e-vision 24 hours in advance.
- Check and prepare the tool, unit and equipment in the base as per the intervention to be done
- Perform briefing as per local process with the Manager to ensure all job is ready to mobilized
- Request for the food, diesel as described above
- Request fuel if needed.

4.3. General considerations

The rigless supervisor and Tornado Slickline Supervisor should have the following reference information
made available to them before mobilization:

• Well Profile
o TD,

o Top of Liner, ,
o end of tubing
o restrictions,
o deviation survey,
o full Completion schematic,
o Drill Pipes Tally if applicable on the rig
• Well history. Obtain critical job information.
o Determine the reasoning for puncher deployment.*
o eview the last intervention done with the client.
o Confirm if there any lost tools or cables left in the wellbore.
o Confirm if the well ever produced or had problems with the following:
o sand-formation / frac / other
o scale / paraffin / asphaltene / mud
o shale / cement / metal / other debris
• Obtain common job information.
• Pressure and temperature data, to include:
o MPWHP
o flowing well head pressure
o BHP/BHT
o fluid type and weight – last known fluid level
o casing pressure.
Notify immediately Client by phone and mail if you see an information or data that will cause an issue at
the wellsite.

4.4. Job execution


4.4.1. Mobilization

Prior mobilization, ensure:

- Check list are done for the equipment to be sent at the wellsite ( WHE items, compressor,
scaffolding, tool, slickline unit)
- Equipments are loaded a day before the mobilization
- To depart from the base at 6:45 AM to be able to arrive at the wellsite at 7:30 AM

4.4.2. Tool box meeting

The safety meeting is mandatory before you start anything at the wellsite. During the meeting, the
Slickline supervisor needs to go through all the steps of the operation and address all the risk associated to
the steps and the precaution measures in place to avoid them to happen. During the Safety meeting, the
rigless will confirm that all the documents required such approved permit, JSA,.. for the operation are
present.

4.4.3. Rig up

Check that the surface drive switch is on OFF position and this during the all shut-in conditions to
avoid unexpected ESP auto re-start remotely or because the alarms were cleared out. Lock out/tag out this
surface drive switch for the duration of the shut-in logging and only turn it back on before requesting for
the Control Room to start the ESP. Turn it back off at the end of the job but don’t lock it out as you may
easily forget to unlock before leaving the wellsite.

Before you start spotting pressure equipment on the ground, make sure to cover with plastic liner the
area around the wellhead, the area under the slickline cable (between slickline unit and wellhead), and
bellow the compressor and any equipment that has a potential to cause a spill. A plastic liner has to be
installed under the unit as well.

• Check the scaffolding conditions, and be sure that it is properly secured and attached to the
wellhead.
• Bleed the compressor air tank for any water and start engine
• Connect the pressure control equipment,
• Connect stuffing box hydraulic hoses and check pump functionality,
• Connect hydraulic hoses and check the Slickline BOP operation. The Slickline BOP is transported
with rams closed;
• Remove tree cap
• Connect swab vavle and the flange adaptor

• Connect the Slickline BOP on wellhead
• Connect tool inside the pressure control equipment: rope socket, stem, jar ect..
• Pick up the pressure control equipment
• Connect the remaining running tool as per the intervention program.
• Pick up assembly and connect to the Slickline BOP for pressure test

4.4.4. Pressure test

Most of wells within EEPCI field are low pressure. The pressure test is done at 2000 psi or to the
working pressure for each well (3000 PSI for producer and 5000 PSI for injector wells). Below are the
steps for pressure testing the wellhead equipment.

• Fill up riser with water until it flows out,


• Set stuffing box hydraulic pressure to 1000psi and increase water pressure to 250 or 500psi, hold
for 5mn,
• If no leak, increase grease pressure to 2400 psi and water pressure to 2000psi, hold for 5 to 10min
or until client is happy with the result,
• Slowly bleed pressure to initial wellhead pressure with the pump connected,
• Close BOP valve and bleed pressure in the pump, prepare to RIH

4.4.5. Pull plug operation

• Run into the wellbore with the correct tool string and 2.5” JDS pulling tool.
• Take a pickup weight 18m (50 ft) above the target depth.
• Lower the tool string slowly until the 2.75” blanking plug in the Y- tool is tagged.
• Continue moving downwards slowly until the weight on the weight indicator decreases.
• Pull up on the wire until you see an indication of picking up the tool string.
• Continue to pull up on the wire until you see an indication of opening the jars such as sudden kick
on weight indicator.
• Record the depth.
• Pull up 200 to 300lbs. above pick up weight, as seen on weight indicator.

• Apply the brake on the unit for 15 seconds (This will confirm that the blanking plug was securely
latched).
• Lower the toolstring slowly until the weight indicator shows the jars closing such as sudden kick
on the weight indicator reading.
• Record the depth.
• Set the Slickline unit for low speed, high-tension by adjusting the engine revs and increasing the
hydraulic pressure in the system.
• Pick up the Slickline slowly to check where the mechanical jar is open and then pull further tension
• Verify that the jar fired.
• Lower the tool string to close the mechanical jar and the hydraulic jar or spring jar by sitting down
the weight of the tool string for a few moments before pulling up on the jars.
• Continue until the jarring operation is completed.
• Pull out to the pick-up weight depth and confirm the weight increased
• POOH

4.4.6. Tag for fill operation

• Run in well with the toolstring and 1.75” sample bailer as required
• Take a pickup and hanging weight at regular intervals
• Lower the toolstring slowly until the fill is tagged, then continue down slowly until the weight falls
on the weight indicator
• Pull up on the wire until an indication of picking up the toolstring is seen
• Continue to pull up on the wire until an indication of opening the jars is seen, (pronounced kick on
weight indicator reading) and note the depth
• Lower the toolstring slowly until the weight indicator shows the jars closing, (pronounced kick on
weight indicator reading) and note the depth
• Pick up the toolstring to the point where the jars are open
• By moving the winch controls to the running in the well position allow the toolstring to run in the
well more quickly until an indication of the jars closing is seen
• Pull out of the well, observe caution when entering the well entry guide (WEG).
• Disconnect sample bailer and check the sample
