What is your Job? I am civil engineer and I am project manager in oil and gas field.
Where do you work? I work in consultant engineers company. Our main office is located in
Tehran but we have also local offices in western and southern provinces.
Why did you choose that job? When I was finishing my bachelor degree, I passed three months
internship in well-known consultant engineers that have become my first
working place. I’m inclined to say I shined in my internship period.
Is it a popular job in your As you may know, Iran is oil & gas rich country, so many contractors,

What do you study? I did in fact. I studied civil engineering and I am graduated in geotechnical
earthquake engineering in master degree.
Where do you study that? I had finished my bachelor degree in Tabriz university and then I studied
master in IIEES. ()
Why did you choose that I love construction and creation. I have wondered how raw and formless
subject? materials shape a project/building since I was a child. That is the reason
why I choose civil engineering. Because of its creativity.

country? civil/mechanical engineering specifically had been very popular during
rebuilding period after Iran-Iraq war. But now a days, more than three
decades after war, medical fields are more popular.
Do you like that subject? Yes I do. I enjoy challenges of construction or even design projects.

Where is your hometown? I was born in Isfahan. The 3rd biggest city in Iran and it is located almost at
the centre of the country.
Do you like your hometown? Yes I like Isfahan very much. It is a beautiful town with a river inside
named Zayandeh Rood with many monuments, historical bridges and
royal gardens and castells.
Do you often visit your No. unfortunately I haven’t visited Isfahan during past ten years, but I’m
hometown? thinking about and I will go to Isfahan as soon as possible.
What is your hometown like? My hometown is a big city with more than 5 million populations. It is both
traditional and modern; it was starting to develop many years ago but has
kept traditions and local culture.

transportation in your home relatively new and hasn’t spread enough through the city; also (BRT)

Where is your home? My home is in west of Tehran near Tirajeh shopping mall in a dead end
alley beside Ashrafi highway.
Do you live in house or flat? I live in a small flat at third floor in an apartment with total 30 units.
Who do you live with? I live with my mom. She is old and diabetic and I am the littlest sibling. So
traditionally I am in charge.
Are there many rooms in your Actually, there are not many, just two bedrooms, living room, kitchen,
home? bath and WC.
What is your favorite room? Living room of course, where all my favorite stuffs like my piano, my
comfortable sofa and music player are located.
How are the walls decorated? Most of walls are decorated with bright gray paint and paintings. My
room’s walls are decorated with patterned wall papers. I like little frames
and drawings. So you can’t find many paintings on my room’s walls.
What would you change about If I had enough money, i would like to change window frames. All
your home? windows have single layer glass and are not isolated enough against
sound and heat. Especially cause my bedroom is overlooking a crowded
street and vehicle noises is hearable all night long.

price and maintenance cost of houses, most of people have been

Art
Are you good at art? I think I am. I remember when I was a child, sometimes I wrote short
stories and most of times I was admired by audiences. Also I was good on
music; I have been playing guitar and piano for many years. So I am good
at writing and playing music but definitely not at painting.

Did you learn art at school Yes. One of the most interesting classes in elementary school was art.
when you were a child? Syllabus of Art class was basic concepts of art, training of painting and
calligraphy. But because of religious limitations, music was eliminated at
all.
What kind of art do you like? I love all kinds of art, I enjoy watching performing arts, I love theatre and
music, and generally better to say I like any kind of art that I understand.
Is art popular in your country? Many traditional arts exist in my country. Music is the most popular art in
Iran. Theatre and fine arts are more popular in elite community. And
cinema as an artistic industry is common in big cities.
Have you ever been to an art One of my friends is an art gallery owner. Her area of expertise is modern
gallery? paintings specially abstract and expressionism. The atmosphere in an art
gallery is silent and artistic, pieces of art are hung on wall or located on
plinth and usually few expert are around to explain for costumers and
visitors.
Do you think children can I am inclined to believe that familiarity with art can benefit anybody in

Childhood
Did you enjoy your childhood? Yes and no. We were living in a big house with two yards, every day I was
playing with my brothers and neighbors children, I was free and I had
many pets. I always remember those years very happy in the home. But I
remember air raids and missile collides too. When I was a child my
country was engaged in a long severe war with Iraq.
What is your first memory of Actually my cat. I can remember its shinny yellow colour. Her name was
your childhood? “Hanna” means Amber and maybe she was the best friend of mine when I
was 4,5 years old.
Did you have a lot of friends Yes a lot. I had bunch of friends consist of our neighbors, my father’s

What did you enjoy doing as a I enjoyed planting. I planted almost everything in backyard. And I loved to

and safe but will cause deprivation of some facilities.
