D. Lesson Proper:

What is the word of

the day.
The word of the day is PROJECTILE!

Good job guys!

Now what is a
projectile?
Projectile is any object that has been
launch/dropped or thrown in a particular
direction from one point.

What is the two

dimentonal path that a
projectile follow
The two dimentional path that a projectile
follow is called trajectory.

The motion of the projectile is described in

terms of its position ,velocity and
acceleration.

Now, give example of projectiles.

1. Soccer ball begin kicked
2. A baseball begin thrown
3. Drops of water

For better understanding of projectile

motion you will be doing varied activities.

You will be focusing on this situation, the,

after awhile you will answer the questions.

Situation:
Supposed that a car slowly passes as you
stand by the side of a road. A passenger in
the car accidentally drops n apple out the
window. Imagine that you can watch the
apple only. Remember that the apple has
the same horizontal velocity as the car.
From my point of view the path will be
1. From your point of view, what path curved like that of the launched golf ball.
will the apple takett does the No, because the passenger will see a
passenger will see the same path straight vertical path like that of the
2. Talking about the time for the dropped golf ball
apple to hit the ground, will you
with passenger if he tells that the Yes.
apple hits the ground in 2 seconds
3. Where the shape of trajectory and
the horizontal motion do depends The shape of trajectory and the horizontal
motion depends on the point of view of the
observer.
The independence of vertical and
horizontal motion and our motion
equations can be used to
determine the position of the
objects. if we call the horizontal
displacement x and the initial
horizontal velocity Vx then,atb time
t,
Xfi Vxtand VxffiVi
The equation for an object falling
with constant acceleration, g,
decribed the vertical motion. If y is
the vertival displacement, the
initial vertical velocity of the object
is Vy. At time t ,the vertical
displacement is,

yfiVyt+/1/2gt2,also,VyffiVy+gt
using these question, we can
analyze the motion of projectiles.

We will first look at the motion of

objects that have an initial velocity

Projectile launched horizontally

A stone is thrown horizontally at +15 m/s from the top of a cliff 44 m high, a. how long does
the stone take to reach the bottom of the cliff B. How far from the base pf the cliff does the
stone strike the ground C. Sketch the trajectory of the stone.

Given:

Horizontal velocity,Vxfi+15 m/s

Initial velocity, VYfio m/s
Vertical acceleration, gfi-9.80 m/s2

Unknowns:
a. Time of flight, t
b. Horizontal displacement,x
Basic equation:
ZfiVxt
yfiVyt+1/2gt2
solutions:
the cliff heights is the end s 44m,so if we assign the initial position yfio, then at the end
of the flight (time t) the position is yfi-44m.
Given:

Horizontal velocity,Vxfi+15 m/s

Initial velocity, VYfio m/s
Vertical acceleration, gfi-9.80 m/s2

Unknowns:
c. Time of flight, t
d. Horizontal displacement,x
Basic equation:
ZfiVxt
yfiVyt+1/2gt2
solutions:
the cliff heights is the end s 44m,so if we assign the initial position yfio, then at the end
of the flight (time t) the position is yfi-44m.
a. We know all the quantities in the equation yfiv yt+1/2gt2exept the unknown, the time
t. Since Vfio1/2gt, or t2=2y/g.

T2fi2(-44m)/-9.8m/s2
Fi9.0s2
T2fiv9.0s2
Fi3.0s
b. To find the horizontal displacement use
xfiVxt
fi(+15m/s)(3.0s)
fi+45m

Let us have other exercise. Answer the following problems;

1. A stone is thrown horizontally at
a speed of +5.0 m/s from the top
of a cliff 78.4m high
a. How long does it take the
stone to reach the bottom of
the cliff
b. How far from the base of he
cliff does the stone strike the
ground
c. What are the horizontal and
vertical components of the
velocity of the stone just
before it hits the ground
2. A steel ball rolls with constant
velocity across a tabletop 0.950m
high. It rolls off and hits the
ground +0.352m horizontally
from the edge of the table. How
fast was the ball rolling.
3. An auto moving too fast on a
horizontal stretch of mountain
road, slide off the road, falling
into deep snow 87.7m beyond
the road and 87.7m beyond the
edge of the road.
a. How long did the auto take
fall
b. How fast as it going when it
left the road (in m/s and
km/h)
c. What was its velocity 10m
below the edge of the road.

Generalization:

What is projectiles?

Projectiles is any object that

has been launched/dropped
or thrown in a particular
direction from one point.

What do you call to the two

dimentional path that a projectile
traveled.
The two dimentional path
IV. EVALUATION; that a projectiles traveled is
Let us have a quiz called trajectory.

On a sheet of paper answer

the following:
1. Alice thows the ball to
the +x direction with an
initial velocity 10m/s.
time elapsed during the
motion is 5s, calculate
the height that object is
thrown and Vy
component of the
velocity after it hits the
ground. (draw the its
trajectory)
2. ___is any object that has
been launched/dropped
or thrown in aparticular
direction fron one point.
3. the two dimentional
path that
aprojectile traveled is
called __
4. Give two example of
projectiles.
V. VALUES INTEGRATION:
Are you familiar with the
game “angry birds

Yes Ma’am1

What is the mechanics of the game

The mechanic of the

game is to use the birds
in order to hit the pigs.

Upon playing the game, is there any

moral values you gained
Nothing Ma’am

What do you think will happen if that

game will take by the people in
wrong way

The people will develop

an attitude hurting and
killing the birds.

Remember that birds are one of the

wonderful creation of God. So we
should give them importance. We
need to love them. Not only birds but
also other animals in wildlife. In order to protect the
birds and other animals
we need to take care of
So what shall we do in order to them. We should not kill
protect the birds and other animals them. And we should not
kill their freedom.

For your last activity, in a piece of (the student will

colored paper you will compose an compose their oath)
oath stating your role in protecting
and conserving the wildlife. Then,
you will share your oath to your
classmate by reading it, after the
reading of oaths you will be pasting
your path on our “wall of Oaths”

VI. Agreement
