Electrical Tool Box-01

1) All conduits shall be installed as a complete system and shall be securely fastened in
place. Wires/Cables shall not be pulled without conduit.
2) EMT Shall be securely fastened in place at an interval not to exceed 3m (10 ft.).In
addition, each EMT run between termination points shall be securely fastened within
900mm (3ft) of each outlet box, junction box, and device box, cabinet.
3) Conduits shall be cleaned free from burrs and any other sharp edges throughout their
entire length.
4) Conduit shall be bounded to the grounding system at both end.
5) Flexible conduits may also be used in connecting to equipment for short sections where
required for difficult runs or where excessive vibration is anticipated. Flexible conduits
shall conform to the requirements of NEC for the area classification.
6) Conduit fill shall not exceed the maximum fill specified in NEC Chapter 9.
7) Bends shall be made that the tubing is not damaged and internal diameter of the tubing is not
effectively reduced.
8) There shall not be more than equivalent of four quarter bends (360degree total) between pull
points for example, Conduit bodies and boxes.
9) All Cut ends of EMT shall be reamed or otherwise finished to remove rough edges.
10) Coupling & Connectors used with EMT shall be made up tight.
11) Provide Lock nut & bushing before Wire/Cable pulling.
12) Close Unused opening
13) Use cable pulling Lubricant if cables are not freely passed from raceway.
14) Test Continuity & IR test before termination.
15) Use proper Size Crimping tools.
16) Dress & identify wire wires inside distribution board.
17) Channel erector system components (Unis rut or similar) used to support conduits, cables, cable
trays, enclosures, lighting fixtures and other electrical equipment shall be made of steel or iron,
either hot-dip manufacturer.
18) Use color identification for pull boxes.
