PetsAmerica Recalls Dog Treats that are Causing Illnesses in Pets

York, Pennsylvania (May 11, 2022) - PetsAmerica is issuing a product recall of our Soft &
Chewy dog treats, which have been linked to causing illnesses in dogs. All 12 oz. boxes of Soft
& Chewy dog treats with a packaging code of “2-1,” “2-2,” “2-3,” 2-4,” or “2-5,” and a product
code of 11645 are being recalled.
PetsAmerica, a pet supply and food manufacturer, has learned in the past week from over
50 customer complaints that our Soft & Chewy dog treats are causing mild to severe illnesses in
dogs. Currently, there have been no reported deaths. The recall affects 50,000 boxes, which have
been sold and delivered to customers across all 50 states. The product has been removed from
the PetsAmerica website, and those who purchased the product from our website have been
notified of the recall by email. Customers in possession of the product are urged to discard it
immediately.
We have been in contact with veterinarians at the Center of Disease Control and
Prevention to monitor the situation. It is recommended that all owners who know their dog
consumed this product closely monitor their health and behavior. The CDC recommends
contacting your local emergency veterinarian immediately if you notice any unusual behavior or
symptoms.
According to PetsAmerica CEO John Smith, “Our company’s top priority is the health
and safety of our four-legged customers. We are taking this issue very seriously and are actively
investigating the situation to prevent it from happening again.” This is an isolated incident, as
PetsAmerica has never had any issues with their food products in the past. PetsAmerica is
working around-the-clock with our quality control team and safety inspectors to prevent this
from happening again. We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences, illnesses, or trauma this
has caused you and your pet.
Any customer who purchased Soft & Chewy dog treats will receive a full refund from
PetsAmerica, in addition to a voucher valid for a free product up to a $19.99 retail value. To
express our apologies, PetsAmerica will also be covering any veterinary costs caused by the
product. Visit www.petsamericarecall/healthcoverage.com to submit your request for coverage.
