OBJECTIVES :
▪ To identify suitable and quality seeds
▪ To know the process of seed germination
▪ To learn how to choose good seeds

1.0 INTRODUCTION
This week, we will learn about the germination of seeds where the seeds must be
selected first by soaking the seeds in a container. If the seeds float, then they are not
suitable for use because they will not germinate. The process of seed germination it
takes 3-5 days then it will be transferred to the plant border.
2.0 NATURE OF WORK DONE

orderly to our
crops while
holding a hoe and
our tools.

rework our crops
and drains to
 make a better, so
that we can apply
a chicken dung
into the soil to
increase the
growth of plants.
10.30am-11.00am Afterwards, we
were instructed by
the Planter’s
Executive (PE) to
take a break due
to the extremely
hot weather.
11.00am-11.40am We gathered by
class and we did
the seed
germination using
tray, peatmoss,
and spinach seeds
for each group.
11.40am-12.30pm We stopped after
completed the
process seed
germination.

Fertilization
▪ We use chicken dung as an organic fertilizer that contains various nutrients
needed by plants.
▪ Fertilizer is given by sowing it around the plant hole and fertilizing is stopped
during the rainy season because the fertilizer will not be able to absorb into
the soil because it is dissolved in rainwater.
▪ Spinach tree roots cannot absorb fertilizer in conditions of very high water
content.
7.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Procedure of seed germination

Imbibition of water – seed fills with water when there is plenty of water

Enzymatic and respiratory activities – water activates special proteins call enzyme

Digestion and translocation of food - breaking down of complex food to a simple one

Assimilation - to provide cellular activity growth of embryo and conservation

Growth - grows by cell division, enlargement and differentiation of cell

8.0 RECOMMENDATION
In my opinion, the tools used for seed germination are good as a preparation for the
seeds to start germinating because this step is very important to determine the next
process.
9.0 CONCLUSION
We have learned and seen for ourselves how the germination process of the seed
happens and it is a very interesting thing because it is a life journey of the tree and
how the cycle continues.
