ACTIVITY CONTENT:
DATE : 28 October 2022 (Friday)

TOPIC : Lining

TIME : 7.00 am – 11.15 pm

PLACE : Share Farm UiTM Jasin Campus

OBJECTIVES : 1. To divide the area to create planting beds, drains, and agricultural
roads.

2. To provide equal access to nutrients, water and sunlight for all crops.

3. To determine a systematic irrigation and harvesting.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
Lining is an important process that we must apply to our plot. It determines the position of the
planting site based on the distance between the plants. Therefore, students of part 1 can learn to
make a lining on the soil measurement accurately by using the fine methods and tools.

2.0 NATURE OF WORK DONE

TIME PLACE ACTIVITY REMARKS

7.00 am Parkir The students of part 1 are required to gather at the

Blok Kuliah Parkir Blok Kuliah. We all had some stretching as a
warm up before we started the activities.

7.20 am Equipment All students move to the in front of the equipment store
Store to put our mini tools and rubber boots there. We are
prepared to attend the weekly assembly at the farm
operations office.
7.30 am- Farm All batch of student are gathered at the same place. We
8.30 am Operations sang together the National Anthem Malaysia, Wawasan
Office Setia Uitm & the Planter’s Song.
Next, there are a presenter by batch ( student part 1, part
2 & 3 ) that have to represent the activities we did for the
past 2 weeks. For students part 1, we presented about
land clearing and liming process.
8.30 am- Student We all gathered and get prepared for the instructions
9.00 am Planting Site from PE. For this week 3, we were going to make a lining
process.

9.00 am- Student All student make a lining process. We use a raffia rope

3.0 TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

 Hoe : Used to dig a hole to become a drain.

 Raffia Rope : To make a lining that divide each land boundary and drains.

 Mini Tools : To break parts of lump soil

 Tapping Line : To measure the distance between the border of land boundaries.

6.0 ASSIGNMENT
1. What is seed dormancy?
 Seed dormancy is inability of seeds to germinate even though the required conditions
(temperature, humidity, oxygen & light) are provided.
2. What is seed treatments?
 Biological, physical and chemical agents and techniques applied to provide protection
and improve the establishment of healthy crops. There are types of seed treatments.
For example is fungicides that uses to prevent fungal diseases. Next, seed treatments
could apply the insecticides for protection against pest.
3. What are the differences between of monocotyledons and dicotyledons?
Monocotyledons Dicotyledons
Embryos have a single cotyledon Found in pairs in embryos
Fibrous root system Tap root system
Monocot leaves contain parallel veins Leave in dicots have reticulate or net
venation

4. What is seed?
 A seed of a seed plant that can sprout a new plant. It possesses embryo, food materials
and are protected by the seed coat. The seed germinates and gives rise to a new
seedling during favourable conditions.
5. What is the definition of lining?
 Lining is to determine the planting point of seedling. It can provide an evenly spaced of
crops to give each crops has access to nutrients, water and sunlight. Also. It is a efficient
way to a systematic plantation.
7.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

8.0 RECOMMENDATION

In this third week, I found that there is some improvement that need to be made for the successful
of the programme. MT must always make sure the equipment in a good condition before starting
work because the hoes used are blunt. As a result, it is quite difficult for students to dig the soil
which causes to time be wasted. We have to use more energy to dig the soil for the drainage that
cause us to be more tired. If this problem can be acted upon immediately, the work can be carried
out more easily and quickly.

9.0 CONCLUSION

To sum up, I learnt about how to do lining in a fine method using the right tools. I have to
measure and divide the soil to make boundaries. It helps me a lot to make sure that my crops in
a systematic irrigation and harvesting. It can also help in determining the quantity of inputs to be
used on the land. Also, I knew that it can reduction in water logging. I hope that I can use the
skills that I learnt in future so my plant can grow productively.
