Types of multimeters
Multimeters are divided into two types depending on the way the indication is displayed: analog and
digital.
Analog multimeters are multifunction electrical measuring instruments with indication by means of an
arrow (analog) scale.
Activity 1.
TRUE/FALSE Directions: Read each statement below carefully. Place a T on the line if you
think a statement it TRUE. Place an F on the line if you think the statement is FALSE.
_____1. Analog multimeters are multifunction electrical measuring instruments with indication by means
of an arrow (analog) scale.
_____2. High input resistance and, consequently, a high error in low-voltage measurements.
_____3. One of the main functions of multimeter is measuring of indirect and alternating current.
_____4. Digital multimeter has maximum possible measurement accuracy.
_____5. Digital multimeters are modern, reliable measuring devices characterized by high measurement
accuracy and various functional capabilities.
_____6. Multimeter combines functions of an ammeter, a voltmeter and ohmmeter as well as other
electrical measuring instruments.
_____7. Digital Multimeter requires mandatory zero adjustment.
_____8. Analog Multimeter has a Possibility to carry out measurements at low temperatures down to -30
° С.
_____9. Digital Multimeter has automatic polarity detection: If the probes are connected incorrectly, the
correct values with a minus sign appear on the screen.
_____10. Digital Multimeter has the ability to record measurement results in memory and synchronize
with a PC.
