Problems faced by the bangle makers
The bangle making is a very dangerous
job. Working condition is very unsafe

The bangle makers are not offered with

proper safety kit while working.

They do with whatever available for first

aid. Most of the time workers do get burn
on their skin

There are no job security in bangle making

factory. They are awarded with daily
wages

There are no paid leaves,or Sunday or

national holiday
The glass are first put into furnace in order to melt the
glass.

At those soaring temperature the glass is thin like water

and if they aren’t careful the melted glass might spill. It
can burn the workers very badly

The workers in a bangle making factory faces temperature

around as high as 2000 farenhite
All day long.

Despite fans roaring the air is studing there. Workers keep

drinking water to stay hydrated

The entire factory is filled with tiny glass particles and

women are constantly sweeping them.

There broken glass peices are melted down again and

recycled to make new bangles.

The glass peice can damage the vision of the workers .No
one in that place wears mask so they are also breathing in
the glass dust.

A study shows that 23% of bangle workers suffers from

chronic bronchitis
How bangles are made

It all starts with craftsman sifting through the

silica sand which is the main ingredient for
making bangles . then they ass scraps of
leftover glass like broken bottle or damaged
bangles

The min is then melted down in a furnace that

reaches 2000° Fahrenheit
Or hotter.

After 10 hours the glass turns into running

liquid

Its then mixed with Colors. They contain

traces of metals like lead,Candium and even
mercury

Craftsman then move the molten glass to

another side of the factory
The other side contains another furnace.

The molten glass is went inside that

furnace which have a pipe behind it .

The craftsmen touch the pipe with the

molten glass and it make the bangles.

A big pipe full of bangles are taken out

and left out to dry

Then the defective pieces are used again

to create new bangle.

I choose this topic after
searching for a good and quality
contents. I first watched YouTube
video and noted down the points one
by one then I read some interesting
facts about the my topic . I completed
my project within 4 days and submitted
to respected subject teacher

to understand how bangle makers of
Firozabad live and the danger they face
in order to survive.
I choose this topic inspired from the
lesson Lost Spring
