I. Background of the Project

This project started even before the pandemic. The need to help will somehow ease the
problems our country and even our schools in times of pandemic are challengely facing this past
recent years. The manmade pollution that continue to destroy Mother Earth. As a school head, I am
tasked to take the initiative to llok for possible solutions and alternatives to minimize the ill effects of
single use plasticin our school. They say that the beginning is always the hardest. And I also believe
that it takes the whole village to change one single soul. An idea to establish a club in our school as a
start is what occured to me and I named it “GMEScians ECO WARRIORS CLUB”. This group of
pupils are elected hy their fellow pupils from Grades IV to VI. They are composed of ten(10) active and
environmentally driven children and their task is to make sure that no pupil is using plastic inside the
school premises. And part of this activity they are given awards and incentives for the grade level who
manifest 0 waste for the whole month.
I strongly believe that these young Eco Warriors in our school will inspire other children to help
achieve the goal of the project which is 0 waste.

II. Objectives of the project

Aims to:
1. To help pupils to become aware of their important role in our school and community as Eco
Warriors.
2. To advocate the use of single use plastic inside the school campus.
3. To develop the love for our Mother Earth by helping our school in its advocacy against the use
of single use plastic.
4. Sustain the project through constant collaboration and communication with our stakeholders.

III. Significance and relevance of the project

This project 0 waste 101 was created and develop to create greater awareness among our
young children especially the GMEScians on the importance of a clean, safe and green school that
will facilitate teaching and learning.

Also this endeavor will strenghten the value of love in our environment which continue to
disappear among our youth in this generation.

At the same time this advocacy Project 0 waste 101 is the first step towards responsible
young Eco Warriors who in one way or another will make a difference in their fellow pupils .

This project supports the implementation of “Zero Waste” resource management pursuant to
RA 9003, the ecological Solid Waste Management Act developed and mainstream in the minds and
hearts of the children the Three Acts of Goodness the value of cleanliness and proper waste
management.
May this simple yet purpose driven proposal touch the hearts and minds of the people working
behind this noble act. And through this project we, in the Department of Education help us realize our
Vision and Mission which is MAKAKALIKASAN.

IV. Beneficiary of the project: Who are the participants of the project? How many participants will
be involved?

The major beneficiaries of this Project 0 Waste 101 are the children of GERVACIO MAKILAN
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in Barangay Canlandog Murcia. Also benefited in this project are the teachers and staff in
our school for they promote a child-friendly environment which is conducive for learning.
This project will not only benefit a single person but the whole community.
The participants in this project are the Grade IV to VI pupils which composed of -------- boys and -------girls. They
are the young and active ECO WARRIORS OF GMES.
